Quarterly Update
September 2019
The Canadian Nephrology Trials Network (CNTN) is proud to introduce our new quarterly newsletter! With each issue, we will keep you informed on our latest news and event announcements. Thank you for subscribing! We look forward to staying in touch.
About us: CNTN was established to improve the relevance, number, and quality of nephrology clinical trials in Canada. We are governed by an executive committee, comprised of researchers and patient partners from across Canada who are involved in all types of research.

Visit www.cntn.ca to learn more about what we do.

Our Executive Committee Structure
The CNTN Executive Committee is comprised of the two co-leads (one patient and one researcher) of each of the three working committees as well as six members at large and two non-voting members. The non-voting members consist of a Can-SOLVE CKD leadership representative, to advise the committee,  and the CNTN project coordinator, to provide administrative support. Stay tuned to learn more about our CNTN committee members in our next newsletter!

Your committee updates:
Updates:
  • We are planning a meeting of the CNTN ahead of ASN!

  • Peer review continues to be an important part of CNTN -- we will be expanding our peer review process to offer an online informal discussion forum via videoconferencing every 6-8 weeks. Investigators will have 5-7 minutes to present, followed by 45 mins of discussion.
Updates:
  • Actively surveying nephrologists to determine their experience with research and their barriers to doing research
  • Planning for patients to provide input at the CNTN meeting -- developing an educational component to help patient partners craft their presentation
  • Determine what is needed for investigator buy-in of CNTN -- help identify study sites, mentors, match investigators to patient partners, and provide patient letters of support for grants
Updates:
  • Increase visibility to increase the number of CNTN members via:
    • A more active Twitter presence
    • Promotional materials that will be distributed at events
    • Quarterly newsletter to keep network members updated and informed on network activities
  • Listing of trials on CNTN website -- e-mailing investigators to let them know how to get their study posted
