This is a weekly social mixer for locals, travelers, international students, and international professionals in Denver. This is a place to meet friends, learn about travel in Colorado and contribute to the travel community. Feel free to being snacks or drinks to share, games, and blankets for others to sit on.
This is a weekly event. It will occur again September 18.


Colorado Remembers 9/11

Join the Eighteenth Anniversary Commemoration of Colorado Remembers 9/11. This is a national security forum that will present "Tensions on the Rise: North Korea, Iran, and Al Qaeda." The ceremony will include the posting of the colors by the Colorado National Guard Honor Guard, remarks by the Governor and Mayor, and the presentation of military honors to include a salute, Taps, and bell ceremony. Doors at 6PM. Please get your tickets ASAP!


32nd Annual World Trade Center Denver Member Gathering

Please join the 32nd Annual World Trade Center Denver Member Gathering. This is an opportunity for members to vote on new board leadership, set the direction of World Trade Center Denver and provide valuable input on how together we can raise awareness for international trade in Colorado. They will also officially launch a Trade Geek podcast in partnership with Pete Mento and mark the 50th anniversary of World Trade Centers Association. Please feel free to extend the invite to your friends and colleagues interested in learning more about World Trade Center Denver.
This event is open to members and non-members.

Join WorldDenver's Young Professionals for a networking happy hour and a pint at Denver's Irish Snug. Get ready to mix and mingle with the other professionals in the room and learn more about WorldDenver in a relaxed and fun environment, but be warned - we work with people we like, so be prepared to meet some amazing people! Peace Corps: Past, Present, & Future

The Posner Center is hosting a Peace Corps Directors Panel featuring three past directors of the Peace Corps. They will discuss the Peace Corps under their directorships and their visions for its future. Meet the panelists during social hour from 5pm to 6pm. The panel and Q&A will be from 6pm to 7pm. Light refreshments will be available. Register in advance!


Building Bridges 2019 Block Party Celebrating 25 Years!

At Building Bridges, they equip resilient young leaders with communication and relationship-building skills to transform divides in our communities. Since 1994, Building Bridges has empowered thousands of people to come together for social change across seemingly impossible differences.

Join them to celebrate 25 years of transformation at this year's Building Bridges Block Party! Tickets include tastings of food, drinks, and sweet treats; games, activities, and vendors; and art and music by local artists.  Youth 5 and under can join for free.


Japanese Kite Festival

2019 Japanese Kite Festival Hosted by the Japan America Society of Colorado and the office of Denver Human Rights & Community Partnerships! Community workshops will be offered on Saturday, September 14 at 12:30pm and 3:00pm at the Central Park Recreation Center. Kite flying festival will be on Sunday, September 15 at Cottonwood Gallery Park from 10:00am to 3:00pm!

Scrivner Institute Hosts Bob Doer and Bruce Reed from AEI

American Enterprise Institute President and Morgridge Scholar, Robert Doar, and Aspen Institute Co-Chair of the Future of Work Initiative, Bruce Reed, will discuss the state of opportunity in America, with an eye towards how our economy and public policy can together encourage continued employment, economic mobility and civic health. Doar and Reed will outline how a changing labor market, a safety net currently sending mixed messages about the importance of work and family, and a fraying sense of civil society are part of complex equation that will require the best efforts of educational institutions, government, and corporations to rethink their roles in supporting a dynamic society and in re-imagining the social contract.

Actionary Steps to Global Health With Hemp

September 18 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Her Many Voices Foundation (https://hermanyvoices.org) joins with the Posner Center to provide practical information on the ways in which hemp is revolutionizing international aid and development. Attendees can expect to leave with concrete steps on how they can use hemp in their international work as well as direction to resources for further information. Attendance is capped at 30 participants and they will provide a light meal, with hemp based products for attendees. So while this program is free of charge, please register!


German American Agricultural Technology Symposium

This day-long event aims to bring together innovators and investors from across the Atlantic to address the most pertinent questions in AgTech - inciting dialogue, exchange, and action. The Agri-Tech Symposium will take a deep dive into the importance of agriculture to both Coloradan and German economies, and continue with an Expo of New and Cutting Edge Technologies from Coloradan, national and international AgTech companies.

Homestay Opportunities!
WorldDenver is hosting homestay opportunities! Currently, they are looking for volunteers for these homestay opportunities:
Youth Ambassadors France (October 22 - October 31)
Professional Fellows (October 18- November 19)
Russia Open World (December 6- December 14)


Expectations for Homestay Hosts:

-Provide a welcoming home that is respectful of other cultures
-Treat your guest(s) like family
-Share your favorite cultural parts of the city and state 
-Provide a room with an individual bed & access to a shared bathroom (youth can share rooms, must have individual bed)
-Provide 2 meals/day Monday-Friday, 3 meals/day on weekends (dietary restrictions may apply)
-Transportation: Students will need to be dropped off/picked up at WorldDenver office;
-Professionals: public transportation to/from worksite placements, Monday – Friday

Homestay Hosting is a great way to travel the world without leaving your home.

Boulder-Lhasa Sister City Project (BLSCP) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity formed in 1986 in Boulder, Colorado, which develops and implements non-political exchanges of mutual benefit with Lhasa, Tibet, including surrounding areas, in health care, education, environmental protection, science & technology, agriculture & animal husbandry, and culture & art. Boulder is Tibet's only sister city in the United States. Lhasa is one of Boulder’s seven official sister cities, authorized by the Boulder City Council.
