Kia Mahara - School Photos
Photolife class portraits will be held Monday 16 September. Most of the tamariki would have come home with their pre-paid envelope with their own names on it. If your child has come home with another name on envelope, please return it to kura on Monday and we will give them the correct one. If you would like a siblings photo, we have those envelopes in the tari, let us know if you'd like one.3

SCHOOL REWARDS - We took this out last time, maybe we can do it again.

Bayfair will be running this from the 12th – 26th September.

This year customers will need to spend $50 in centre to receive one token to vote for the schools and the voting station will be set up next to our new Customer Service desk in between Kathmandu and Seed.

I tērā wiki i whakamahia te kura mataamua (te kura katoa hoki) i ngā SLC – Student Led Conferences. He nui ake ngā pūkenga kei waenganui i ngā tuakana o te kura. He maha ngā momo kaupapa ako nā ratou e ako ana. He Pō tino miharo, anō hoki, he rawe ki te kite i ngā matua, ngā whānau me ngā tamariki i tae wawe mai. Ka nui te mihi ki a koutou!

Kaupapa: Maara Kai

TECHNOLOGY UPDATES AT KURA - INFORMATION FOR WHĀNAU

Over the last term the Kura has been working with various providers to improve our technology Infrastructure so that our tamariki have better access to the digital world for their learning.  We connect to the internet with a company called Network for Learning, which connects  98% of New Zealand schools to internet services. N4L provides the kura with a safe and secure Managed Network which includes robust web filtering, threat protection and a firewall. All of this is designed to keep our tamariki as safe as possible whilst using the internet at kura.
In conclusion this means we now have a safer and faster internet connection and network within the kura.
Cybersafety and Netsafe Programmes of Learning at Kura

At kura all the tamariki login to the chrome browser, via a school email address, when they want access to the internet. We have made a conscious decision not to give them access to their actual email addresses so that we can ensure there is no bullying using this platform. By logging in to the chrome browser we are also able to trace what internet sites they have been on at kura. We do this so that we can improve our filtering service and also trace anything if we need to. There is one flaw with this system and that is if a child logs in to the browser / school google account at home we have no control over the content being viewed at home. If your child then comes back to Kura and logs in to their account at school then we will see what sites have been visited at home.

SO WHĀNAU BE AWARE OF THIS AT HOME
Make sure your child logs off the chrome browser or out of the internet account before anyone else in the whānau uses the rorohiko to search on the internet.

As well as all of this, all the tamariki have worked through a cybersafety programme at the start of the year "Pause and Think Online"  This was designed to encourage the tamariki to develop strategies for best practise internet use as well as to know what to do when they see or hear something which is not appropriate. Here is a reminder of the catchy song which the tamariki learned.
Kia ora e te whanau o Te Kura o Matapihi, he mihi manahau tēnei ki a koutou katoa. He mihi atu anō i runga i te mohio kua mutu kē i ngā kaupapa me ngā whakataetae o te wāhanga nei.
