Update on Adventures of Vata

An update from RPAYC Member Josh Grosser (23 year old), for those who are following on his journey thus far. Josh and 4 of his mates decided 12 months ago, to buy a cruising boat and head off in search of remote surf in the South Pacific.
They acquired the yacht “Vata” from a couple who cruised her out from Canada, and after spending 12 months fitting her out for their trip, and learning to sail her, they departed Pittwater on 8th July.
SO far they have travelled from Sydney - Lord Howe - Noumea - Tanna Island (Vanuatu) and they have recently left Tanna Island and are now in Port Villa. From all reports they are having an amazing time and have met some amazing people along the way.

Their daily blog and position updates can be viewed here and they have their own Youtube channel here.
Here is a recent video they did. Click here for video.

Coffs Harbour Catamaran Classic

With almost no wind on Saturday on Day 1 they saw too much wind on day 2 which resulted in some sailors having to abandon their boats. Beau & Tyler finished 1st in the Vipers! Well Done. Full Results Here

Still time to buy a 5.5m for the Worlds!

There is still time to buy a 5.5m for the Worlds coming up from the 3rd January to 13th January 2020 at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club.   There will be more and more boats arriving over the next few weeks and there are many club members that have already bought boats to compete.  There are now 14 RPAYC boats that are being worked up for the Worlds!
After the Worlds the 5.5m you have will be a great club boat.  Easy to sail with a self tacking jib and requiring only 2-3 crew.  Remember you never really own a 5.5m you just look after it for the next generation!
