Your Committee

Dear <<Last Name>>

Caroline, Paul and Christiane are standing down from the committee. They will all be missed.

Caroline has not only been our secretary and a big helper at events but often a very efficient organiser as and when required. For example she was the lead organiser in the team that put together the trip to Ironbridge this summer.

Christiane has also put a lot of time into the Society. She is our natural communication channel to the French people in Meung. She found our Bollywood Dancers and participated in their dance routine!

Paul has brought a level of professionalism to our committee that we haven't had before. He has helped us enormously over the last three years. It was his ideas and drive that put together such a good Exchange Visit this year.

So we now need a treasurer. We can't run the Society without someone looking after the Society's money. Can anyone help out? Paul will work with any volunteer until they are confident in what is expected of them.

In addition.....
.... If we are to continue as a Society then we need more help. The remaining committee of Neil, Mark, Pat & Lynn do not believe that we should carry on as normal and visit Meung next April if we don't have enough people to organise the reciprocal return visit in 2021.

Can anyone commit to support the committee by joining one of two sub-committees. Firstly an "Exchange Sub-committee" to plan, organise and run the 2020 and more importantly the 2021 Exchange. Secondly an "Events Sub-committee to run events (including if possible the High Legh Teas).

Please reply if you can help. Please expect a call if you have French partners and haven't served on the Committee yet. We need to make sure that we have asked everybody. Ideally we would like to know how many people we have to run the Society through 2020 to at least 2021 by the 6th October. The committee can then decide on what resolution to put forward to you at the AGM.

Regards
The Committee

Why have sub-committees?

The aim is to allow people to actively participate in the running of the club without the commitment of turning up at general committee meetings. For example the Exchange Sub-committee would convene only when there was work to be done relating to the Exchange. If we do setup the suggested Sub-committees then the actual overall committee could be small.

This isn't the only way to run a Society like ours. We would welcome any ideas you have either at the AGM or preferably before this by the 6th October so that we consider it at our last meeting before the AGM.

Annual General Meeting

7:30 p.m. Friday 1st November 2019

Spread Eagle, Village Centre

Our 51st Annual General Meeting will take place on Friday, November 1st , upstairs at the Spread Eagle in the Village centre. starting at 7 p.m.  We very much hope that you will be able to attend. We will be asking the pub to provide refreshments after the meeting and so we will have to collect money for this.

Further details of the meeting will be sent out later but you might be interested in some research by Paul into how much money we have collected over the last few years from subscriptions and events. The "Where has our money come from” link below shows the types of events we’ve had in the past and how much profit we have made from each one.

It makes interesting reading.
