Dr. Megan Bailey is thrilled to join the Delta State University Department of Music faculty as the Assistant Professor of High Brass. She joins us from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where she enjoyed an active freelance performing schedule, appearing with the Dallas Opera Orchestra, Lone Star Wind Orchestra, Dallas Winds, Monroe Symphony Orchestra, and the Richardson Symphony Orchestra, among others. Additionally, Megan performed with and served as the Business Consultant for Center Stage Brass, a Burke And Bagley prize-winning Dallas-based brass dectet that emphasizes community outreach, innovative programming, and cultivation of new repertoire.

While completing her doctoral studies at the University of North Texas, Megan held a Teaching Fellowship and performed in the North Texas Wind Symphony and the UNT Center for Chamber Music Studies Brass Quintet. She can be heard on the GIA label Composer’s Collection discs featuring the music of John Mackey and Michael Daugherty as well as “Taylor Made,” “Inventions,” Discoveries,” and “Hope.”

Dr. Bailey completed her Bachelor of Music degree at DePaul University, her Master of Music degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of North Texas. Her major areas of interest include music entrepreneurship and chamber music. In her spare time, Megan enjoys cooking, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and adventuring outdoors with her husky, Quinn.
