The Triangle Recorder Society (TRS) holds playing meetings the third Sunday most months from September through June, for a total of eight sessions. In March we instead offer a daylong Saturday workshop, and in May we invite members to participate in the annual TRS recital.

Meeting fee: $10 members, $15 non-members, first meeting is free. The December holiday meeting and the May recital are free for everyone. We encourage you to support TRS by becoming a member. The dues we collect make it possible for us to hire a professional music director.

$60 sustaining membership. Benefits include: ● TRS music anthology used for playing meetings throughout the year (a $15 value) ● Free attendance at all playing meetings
or

Upcoming Early Music Events:

September 22 Workshop in Greensboro

Pat Peterson will be offering a 2 1/2 hour workshop titled "Lhomme arme - The Armed Man in his Many Modes" for the Triad Early music Society in Greensboro, NC on Sunday September 22, 2019 from 1:30 - 4:00 pm.

From Pat about this workshop:

The Armed Man in his many modes

Judging from the number of composers who used L’homme armé as the basis for their compositions, this little ditty was one of the most popular tunes of the Renaissance, inspiring composers for nearly a century and a half. We will explore some of the seemingly infinite ways that composers twisted, turned, and transposed the simple tune to suit musical purposes, both sacred and secular, often with surprisingly beautiful (and sometimes humorous) results.  Modes, canons, athletic and thrilling rhythms, all were in the tool chests of those who vied with each other over more than a century to create the most innovative and unusual settings of this simple and straightforward tune.

Registration and further information:  Please email Susan Benson at newspathway@gmail.com

The workshop is free for TEMS Members and $20 for non-members, $10 for high students.
