Experience Design News

Dear reader,
I hope you had an amazing summer! Regardless of whether you’re back to work or still enjoying the last of the summer sunshine, in this newsletter, I’d like to share an amazing dinner format, a workshop to dive deep into Experience Design and some additional resources that I hope you’ll enjoy, too.

Events & Workshops

15 Toasts

15 Toasts is a small and intimate dinner format that looks to bring big ideas, stories and experiences to the table. It’s designed as a “safe space” for participants to step outside of their day-to-day activities and outside of any official protocol to engage in a rich, personal dialogue on values, leadership, and identity. Created by Priya Parker and Tim Leberecht, the dinner format is designed to offer 15 guests the permission to be vulnerable, engage as human beings in an open and authentic conversation, and surprise one another and themselves.
This is how it works: “Each dinner brings together two hosts along with 15 guests, who are seated around a single table in a private setting. The hosts open the gathering, welcome everybody, frame the theme of the evening, and ask each guest to give a toast devoted to the theme at some point during the evening. As a special twist — providing a strong incentive for keeping the round of toasts moving — the last one must sing his or her toast.”
Find out more about the format and where the next dinner will be held on the 15 Toasts website.

Spaces & Experiences

Kaospilot Experience Design

If you’re interested in Experience Design you might have heard about the Kaospilot Experience Design Training. Past events were held at Kaospilot’s hometown Aarhus, but now, they’re traveling across Europe this fall to bring their training  to Wales, Austria, Germany and the Netherlands. “The training will help you design experiences with emotion and purpose that change the way people think, feel and act. You will be immersed into new design driven ways of creating value, and leave with a modern toolbox for leading the delivery of meaningful experiences.”

Resources

Liberating Structures is an amazing app, meet-up and community designed to support workshop and meeting interaction and productivity. Find out more by browsing the app for ideas on how to generate or share solutions, get or give help and strategize etc. The structures (concrete interventions and exercises) are explained in a very practical why-how-what approach.

Get Together is a guide on how to cultivate a community—people who come together over what they care about. In their book and podcast the authors share stories, prompts, and principles for each stage of building a community with and not for people.

Thank you to Jan Schmiedgen, Jeanette Mooney and Martin Jordan for pointing out tools and resources.
