AFE Awards More than $42,000 in Scholarships
We have awarded 15 students with scholarships totaling $42,300. Seventy-four applications were received for this 2019 scholarship cycle.

“We had many outstanding students apply for scholarships this year, which is why some scholarships were awarded to two recipients,” said Greg Royer, AFE Education Committee Chair.

Scholarships are awarded annually and applications are due by May 1 of each year.

Poinsettia Fertilization: Calcium Deficiency

Calcium is the primary element used for building cell walls. When calcium is low, marginal leaf or bract necrosis can occur. This can occur because calcium is taken up by the plant along with the water supply, mainly through evapotranspiration. So any environmental condition which limits water uptake and water loss through the leaf can create deficiencies.

A memorial tribute has been established by the Next Level Florist Group to honor Michael Kraft who passed away April 25, 2019, at the age of 52. Michael passed away peacefully in his home after an eight-year battle with cancer.
