Dear Grad Students,
As the semester heats up, remember that you don't have to be a lone wolf - connecting with professional development communities can help you keep moving toward your goals.
One way to get support is by participating in GradPro's fall check-in groups. In these groups, you'll meet every 2-3 weeks to discuss your professional goals and challenges with other grad students in a supportive, facilitated setting. Register by September 19.
There are lots of other ways to connect with community in this digest, from the peer support groups offered by Thriving in Science, to a workshop on "Getting the Mentoring You Need," and a panel from advanced grad students on "What I Wish I Did in Grad School." Read more below!

Learn to Respond to Student Feedback and Design a Great Course
|

The GSI Teaching and Resource Center has two upcoming workshops to help you take your teaching to the next level. The "Assessing Teaching and Learning Workshop" (September 17) will help you use evals and other techniques to set goals for improvement.
|
Attend "Syllabus and Course Design" (September 25) to learn about criteria for choosing course materials, assignments, assessments, and more. As a bonus, both workshops count toward the Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education!
