Dear Friend,

You are receiving this e-mail because in the past you signed on to serve as a prayer partner with Metanoia. Thank you very much for this service. Prayer is the work of the ministry.
It is hard to believe that September is already upon us. It has been in the mid-90's here in Chattanooga, so it doesn't feel like Fall. As the seasons change and we go from one to the next, let us be mindful that for the prisoner, seasons change for them. Some are in the middle of lengthy sentences. Some are just starting out in the coldness of the new place. This last week I visited a friend who is in the season of winding down his time after more than 25 years inside. Let us all pray for the men and women we are blessed to minister to.

September Updates and Praises

  • In August I met with officials at Leath Correctional Institution (women) in Greenwood, SC. We are launching women's mentoring there on Tuesday, October 8! I'm excited about this new venture.
  • We recently met with an official from the State of Tennessee regarding mentoring. Praise be to God that there is hope of beginning mentoring throughout the State!
  • We recently met with a man, Mark Andrews, who will become our Regional Director, NC in October.
  • In August we trained men and a woman for the works in SC, as well as men for the work at Walker. We Praise God for continuing to raise up laborers for prison ministry.

September Prayer Requests

  • Please pray about our newest work at Leath Correctional in Greenwood, SC. The launch date for that is set for October 8.
  • Please pray that God will grant us discernment and understanding as we look to help TN begin mentoring.
  • Rev. Randy Jackson is transitioning out of work with Metanoia this month. Please pray for him during his transition.
  • Please pray for each of our staff: Shelly Marshall: Correspondence Ministry Administrator, John Theoharis: Associate Coordinator, Tim McCracken, Regional Director, San Joaquin Valley, Paul Miller, Regional Director, N Texas, Tony Rogers, Regional Director, SC, Barry Smith, Regional Director, TN and MINTS Seminary Coordinator, Steven Howell, Mentor Ministry Administrator
  • Please pray for student longevity in the correspondence ministry. We want to work with students as long as possible.
  • Please pray for more mentors at each of our mentor sites. Pray that God will raise up laborers for this ministry.
  • Please pray about giving to Metanoia financially. Also pray that God will bring new partners in this work.
  • Metanoia's Board of Directors will meet on Sept. 11. Please pray for them as they serve and have oversight of our work and ministry.

September Travel Dates

  • 14-15: First Presbyterian Church, Louisville, MS: Ministry Presentation.
  • 21-22: Greenville, SC: Mentor Training, recruitment.
