Position:
Assistant/Associate Professor of Music Education (full-time, nine-month, tenure-track)
Qualifications:
  1. Doctorate in music education or a closely related field. ABD considered. Doctorate required for tenure.
  2. Record of scholarship that includes an established or emerging record of publications, presentations at state and national conferences, and service to the profession.
  3. The candidate should possess knowledge of (a) multiple pedagogical methods for elementary (e.g., Orff, Kodaly, etc.) and secondary general music, and (b) P-12 music curriculum and assessment.
  4. Applicants should have the ability to develop partnerships with the University Lab Schools and other P-12 schools in the area.
  5. Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.
  6. This position is security-sensitive and employment is contingent upon passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
Position Expectations:
Teach undergraduate elementary and secondary general music methods, as well as other undergraduate music education courses. In addition, the successful candidate may be assigned other duties (including courses in the online MMEd program) based on individual strengths and the needs of the School of Music.

Illinois State University is located in Normal/Bloomington, Illinois, twin cities with a combined population of 167,000. The University enrolls approximately 21,000 students. The School of Music, one of three schools within the College of Fine Arts, has an enrollment of 400 music majors: 330 undergraduate and 70 graduate students. The School of Music has 50 full-time faculty and 50 graduate assistants.
