A Status Update

95% Packed — As I write this edition, we now have our apartment about 95% packed into boxes. It's been fun trying to pack enough to feel productive while not making our place feel uninhabitable. Less fun has been the way our home has become cluttered as we sort and pack all this stuff.

On Sunday we pack all of these boxes into "relo cubes" and then head to Portland on Tuesday to find an apartment. Today is the first day in a long while that I can see the progress we've made and I can't tell you how freeing that feels.

A New Dedication

Paring Down —  As boxes are packed, we've moved them into the garage to make loading the cubes easier. The funny thing is I have not missed a single thing since it's been boxed up.

Despite having donated or purged a lot of "collections," it has become clear that most of what I've been toting around in recent years is no longer meaningful or valuable to me. I intend to look through every box with a careful eye as we unpack in our new home. The goal will be to reduce further the stuff I've been carrying around because I thought it was or might be needed.

I hesitate to use the "M word" here, but I do feel myself starting to lean towards the "less is more" line of thinking.

An Inspiration

The Inspirational Quotes Subreddit — Earlier this week, I learned about a subreddit dedicated to the posting of inspirational quotes. I've now added it to my rotation and have been enjoying dipping in as I can.

A Contest

ADHD Awareness Video Contest — The folks over at adhdawareness.org are hosting a video contest through September 15th. The contest is open to all and features some great prizes. It's also a great way to be part of ADHD Awareness Month in October!

You'll find full details, rules, and submission guidelines on their website

A Video

Here's one of the videos I created for ADHD Awareness Month 2018. It's all about how we lie to ourselves and encouragement for you to set the record straight with yourself.

Acknowledge your ADHD can'ts AND your ADHD cans. Figure out what you need more of in your life as well as what you need less of each day.

NOTE: You may want to turn the volume down a bit before hitting play. For some reason the audio is a bit high in this one.

Parting Thought

I've been worried all this stuff about our move might be boring to you. So far the "unsubscribes" would indicate that worry is not based in reality. In the ADHD Coaching world we call this type of thing "anticipatory anxiety" and boy has it been a part of my world lately.

Thank you for continuing to read TFF and sending the many notes of encouragement I've received!
