"Vocation does not come from a voice 'out there' calling me to become something that I am not. It comes from a voice 'in here' calling me to be the person I was born to be, to fulfill the original selfhood given to me at birth by God."
~ Parker J. Palmer

"Find out who you are and do it on purpose."
~ Dolly Parton

Many of us struggle between the voice "out there" trying to tell us who and what we are. Feeling the judgment and shame in that voice, we say "yes" when we should say "no" and vice versa. The voice "in here" calling us to be the person we were to be, beloved ones fearfully and wonderfully made, can be so still and steady - overwhelmed by other voices.

Our work in case management is to quiet those other voices. To give someone the space to purposefully discover who they are, and to uncover the original selfhood given by God.

We are privileged to have students working with us this year and it is our hope and prayer that their time with ARISE Ministry will help them to grow deeper in their sense of vocation.

We pray that your own sense of vocation would deepen also and that you too, would fulfill the selfhood gifted to you.
Blessings,
Deb

WELCOME TO OUR NEW PLACEMENT STUDENTS
SASHA & CELESTE!

Sasha Kubin joins us from Ryerson where she is a Bachelor of Social Work student in her 4th year. Sasha will be with us until April, 2020.

" I'm excited and grateful for this placement opportunity with ARISE Ministry. I'm looking forward to outreach and getting hands on experience in the field. I know it will be very eye-opening, and challenging at times, but I know it will help me grow as a future social worker, and be very rewarding."
Sasha Kubin

Celeste Encinas joins us from the Child and Youth Care Program at Humber College and will be with ARISE until December, 2019.

"I am excited to learn about the necessary ways to support those who are involved in the sex trade or have experienced forms of sexual exploitation, and are looking to take back their lives. I hope that I can effectively help the team with the hard work that they do and make an impact in my time here!"
Celeste Encinas

Sasha and Celeste are both passionate about social justice and we look forward to having them with us
