"Vocation does not come from a voice 'out there' calling me to become something that I am not. It comes from a voice 'in here' calling me to be the person I was born to be, to fulfill the original selfhood given to me at birth by God."
~ Parker J. Palmer
"Find out who you are and do it on purpose."
~ Dolly Parton
Many of us struggle between the voice "out there" trying to tell us who and what we are. Feeling the judgment and shame in that voice, we say "yes" when we should say "no" and vice versa. The voice "in here" calling us to be the person we were to be, beloved ones fearfully and wonderfully made, can be so still and steady - overwhelmed by other voices.
Our work in case management is to quiet those other voices. To give someone the space to purposefully discover who they are, and to uncover the original selfhood given by God.
We are privileged to have students working with us this year and it is our hope and prayer that their time with ARISE Ministry will help them to grow deeper in their sense of vocation.
We pray that your own sense of vocation would deepen also and that you too, would fulfill the selfhood gifted to you.
Blessings,
Deb
