I am still glimmering some from the vision fast last month. Yes it was tough. Yes ten questers were out on the land for four days, fasting. Yes it was crazy amazing. I can't even write about it because words and letters are too far from the heat and prickly things, from the wa-wa-wa I feel in my head after so long being out, away from cars and music and clean sheets and climate controlled grocery stores.
People are so brave. Who would do this? Eleven days of your precious summer, four of them not eating, alone, with cows (and bulls) and your own thoughts.
And what did they bring back? Words and letters are too tiny. Stories and magic and yes, I'd say they brought back visions. Maybe some day you'll hear one of their stories — a friend of a friend invites you for dinner ten years from now and everyone gets talking over wine and . . .
Indian Summer After Rain,
