Public Meeting to discuss new Wagon Road PnR-144th FlexRide

In partnership with Smart Commute Metro North Transportation Management Organization (Smart Commute) and the Cities of Thornton and Westminster, RTD proposes to create a new FlexRide service in the north area, called, "Wagon Road PnR-144th FlexRide".  The new transit service would be open to the public with a focus on providing transportation options for workforce at 144th Avenue and I-25.

Every week in the Denver metro in 2019, someone has died using the traffic system - many in our own community, and many who were simply walking or biking.  "Vision Zero" is the common name for a principal calling for zero traffic deaths - no one killed while walking, biking, or driving.  While some may see this as aspirational, traffic engineers, elected officials, and safety advocates believe that it is possible to create a system in which no one dies due to our transportation system.

The Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) - a regional planning organization that helps local governments to collaborate around transportation issues, among other things - is developing a Regional Vision Zero Action Plan.  One of the goals of this action plan would be to reduce and eventually eliminate fatalities and serious injuries in the Denver region.

In order to better understand where to begin, DRCOG is asking for public input in two ways:  (1) a survey that asks about your experience with unsafe traffic situations, and (2) an interactive map that allows you to provide input about what you have observed in your community.  The survey takes 2-3 minutes, and feeds directly into the interactive map, where you can indicate places where you see routine unsafe traffic behavior.

Like all DRCOG plans, the Regional Vision Zero Action Plan will have funding allocation implications in the future, and it is important for those in our community to participate in the data collection process now.
Take 2-3 minutes for the Vision Zero Survey
Smart Commute's second annual North Metro Commuter Survey is live and ready for your input!  Projected to take 10 minutes (but less if you have less to say), this survey helps our organization and your community better understand the way your commute to work, what you value, and changes you'd like to see in walking, biking and transit infrastructure.

Overnight work is continuing on the North Interstate-25 Express Lanes Project (120th Avenue to Northwest Parkway/E-470) creating major impacts to highway travel. Impacts include six nights of intermittent full closures taking place from 9:30 pm-5:30 am.  View the closures flyer.

The closures will be in a single direction of I-25 for up to 2 miles. The general public will detour around these closures using Huron Street to the west of the highway and Washington Street to the east. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

To receive up-to-date information regarding full closures, please subscribe to receive email updates or visit the project website.

Do you drive I-25 between Highway 7 and 120th Avenue?  Consider exploring your options and getting rewards through Smart Commute's I Drive I-25 program.  Check out the program flyer for additional details.

If you ride RTD from Wagon Road Park-n-Ride periodically, you may have noticed a renovation of the pavilion.

But, did you know that RTD repurposed existing materials to update benches? While updating the Park-n-Ride, RTD landscape architects determined the wood and hardware on the 20-year-old, weathered benches could be reused. The wood was stripped, sanded, stained, and sealed and the steel hardware cleaned and powder-coated to create new, comfortable benches for customers to enjoy. By reusing existing materials, RTD was able to keep thousands of pounds of usable materials out of local landfills.
