Map International is a collaborative partner with Divine Will Foundation.  It is a non-profit organization that provides critical medical relief and aid to families, especially those affected by disasters.  Due to the devastating effects of hurricane Dorian on both the Bahamas and the Carolinas, MAP has implemented a program of immediate action to supply medical supplies to those who so desperately need the same.

As you have seen through the media which has been covering this disaster, these areas have suffered loss of life, property and critical services.  The survivors are in critical need of life saving supplies.  Accordingly, MAP has created a Disaster Health Kit (DHK) which supports one person living in a shelter for one week.  This kit includes toothbrushes, bandages, soap, and basic first aid supplies that help prevent disease, infection and those secondary illnesses that often result in death.  They also are providing water filters which will supply the most desperate of needs, clean drinking water.  Another important result of this effort is that it reminds those devastated by a disaster that they are not forgotten in this moment of great loss, that there are those who care.

This is the update of what MAP is involved with in this present moment.

  • 2,660 Disaster Health Kits (DHKs) and 200 Sawyer water filters have been airlifted to the Bahamas by MAP partners, Sol Relief and Project Hope.
  • MAP's Disaster Response Team members are packing a freight container with essential medicines and health supplies to be airlifted to the Bahamas, Monday, September 9.
  • Partner organizations are completing a full needs assessment. MAP Disaster Response Team anticipates more extensive shipments of essential medicines, personal protective gear for first responders, and other health supplies to sustain initial disaster response efforts.
  • MAP provided a DHK for 100 foster children evacuating Brunswick, GA from the Morningstar Youth Estate Campus.

Divine Will Foundation has been collaborating with MAP over the last few years to send medicines to Nigeria and for disaster relief caused by Hurricane Harvey in Houston in 2017.
