Let’s get together

Are you ready to make love happen for six local singles? Modern Love: Seattle’s Dating Game Show returns this Thursday, Sept. 12, and we’ve got a great lineup of fun folks who will be putting themselves out there, all in the name of finding their soulmate.

Today, we’re giving you a chance to get a sneak peek at our contestants. We asked four of them to tell us what their favorite date night is like. Here’s what they had to say:

“My idea of a great date night would involve me cooking a fancy dinner for my date, followed by an evening of salsa dancing or a comedy show. We could then go enjoy a stroll on the waterfront and a drink or wonderful dessert.” Alan Grinberg

“Poquitos, ice cream at Frankie & Jo’s, and a rooftop for the breathtaking Seattle view.” —Jas Banwait

“Something super casual where we can talk and be silly. Drinks at a bar with games like shuffleboard or darts, or even a game of mini golf. … anything that promotes engagement and talking. Fancy dinner or movies are the worst first dates!” —Brandie Bedell

“Live music and feeding my face with a burrito.” —Nicole Black

Do any of these sound like a match? Join in the fun this Thursday, and find out. We’ll see you at The Collective in South Lake Union starting at 6:30 p.m.

Just for members

Monday spotlight: Meet Jordan Lyon

Shout out to new members Whitney H., Lucinda H., Kevin K., and Melissa C.! Thank you for supporting The Evergrey — we couldn’t do this without you. ❤️

We’re doing something a bit different with this section today and introducing you to a member of our staff. Today, it’s the guy you’ve probably seen behind the mic at one of our events: Jordan Lyon, The Evergrey’s community engagement producer.

Name: Jordan Lyon

Neighborhood: Fremont

Where in town might people run into you?

An ideal weekday is biking around Seattle to work wherever feels right. Caffe Vita, Stone Way Cafe, Cherry Street Public House, Kakao, Capitol Coffee Works, Miro Tea… I basically have a work home in every neighborhood. On weekends, carrying as much fruit as I can from the Ballard Market, enjoying the night skyline at Gas Works, or dancing in the train cars of Orient Express.

What made you decide to join The Evergrey team?

I joined The Evergrey because it felt like the best home to amplify my work’s impact. Combining local storytelling with local gatherings and community experiences is what I feel is at the core of creating a city full of interconnected relationships, empowered change-makers, and a deep sense of belonging.

What’s something you’re working on that you could use help with?

I want to learn what kind of events and gatherings you want to see in the community. What’s a class, conversation, or adventure that gets you excited to further “live like you live here” and meet your neighbors and other engaged locals at? Please send ideas to jordan@theevergrey.com.

What local business do you think deserves a shoutout (and why)?

Picking one is a challenge, but I would say Makers Workspaces. Alongside always supporting The Evergrey’s work, they quite simply have built the strongest community I’ve felt in a co-working space in Seattle.

Members: Help us help you. Got a cause you’re championing, or a work project you could use some community input on? Fill out our member spotlight form and we’ll share your story with the rest of the Evergrey fam.

One more thing…

Sharpie pens are the solution to plenty of tasks, but they’re no substitute for paying to renew your car tabs. Washington State Patrol recently doled out a $228 ticket to a Snohomish County driver who took the whole “paint by number” concept a bit too far.

That’s all for us today, folks. Have a great Monday.
