Tāmaki Makaurau Anarchists
It's the beginning of spring and we're nearly halfway through Resist250, a boycott of the Tuia 250 events, which the New Zealand government have created to commemorate Captain Cook's arrival in Aotearoa on the Endeavour, which was the beginning of the capitalist colonisation of this whenua. If you want to find out how to get involved, then read the entry on Resist250 below.

This capitalist colonisation continues to this day at Ihumātao. While negotiations are ongoing, but if you want to help at the whenua, there will be a workshop on repairing the stone wall there on September 13th. Capitalist colonisation is also happening in West Papua, where there has been an uprising against Indonesian colonialism for the past fortnight. If you want to learn more about the situation in West Papua, then head along to Organise Aotearoa's screenings on short films on West Papua on September 15th at Samoa House Library

We can also announce that our next (A)space is on September 21st. In addition to the usual fare like our anarchist library, we will be relaunching our anarcha-fiction book club, a "What is TMA?" session for new members and supporters, a discussion of anarchism and environmentalism and much more. We're also co-hosting with our comrades at Auckland Peace Action and Organise Aotearoa a talk on October 5th at the Ellen Melville Centre by Tecber Ahmed Saleh on how New Zealand companies Ballance and Ravensdown are making profits from importing phosphate from Moroccan-occupied Western Shara.

There's a lot of events on about capitalist colonisation, and they point to the need to recognise that colonisation can only be abolished through abolishing capitalism, the state etc. and vice versa.
We are an explicitly anarchist group in Auckland, about a year old, struggling for a better, fair and equal world. We are always open to new members. To find out more, come along to a public meeting, or you can find us at tamakimakaurauanarchists@gmail.com.
