SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 | KICK-OFF SUNDAY

Free Breakfast at 8:45 a.m. | St. Paul’s Game Show at 9:15 a.m.
8:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist, Rite I | 10:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist, Rite II

It’s time to kick off another programming year! This year’s Kick-Off Sunday will include free breakfast and “The Ministry is Right,” a St. Paul’s themed game show based on “The Price is Right”. You’ll also hear brief introductions of Christian formation opportunities and get a sneak peak at parish life events for the fall. Our theme this year is “Kicking It Off Old-School”, where we’ll celebrate 166 years of St. Paul’s history with photographs and artifacts from years past. We will also have vintage St. Paul’s items for sale. We can’t wait to see you there!

BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 8 | SUNDAY NIGHT POP-UP FORMATION
Beginning this fall, we will offer a series of “pop-up” events on selected Sunday nights. We will gather for dinner together in Key Andrews Hall at 5 p.m. Following dinner, youth will go to EYC in the Youth Room, children will go to the Yo Room for a Creation Care track, and adults will have the choice of a formation track based on the Presiding Bishop’s Way of Love, or a formation track specifically for parents of children and youth. The evening concludes by 7:00 p.m. Email Fr. Joe (woodfin@stpaulschatt.org) for more information; register for event and (free) dinner at https://tinyurl.com/stp-sunday-formation.

EPISCOPAL RELIEF + DEVELOPMENT | HURRICANE DORIAN RESPONSE
Episcopal Relief & Development is working closely with dioceses in the path of Hurricane Dorian. You can help provide affected communities with immediate and long-term support. Contributions to the Hurricane Relief Fund will help Episcopal Relief & Development support Church and other local partners as they provide critical emergency assistance to those most in need: support.episcopalrelief.org/hurricane-relief.

Please continue to pray for all those impacted by Hurricane Dorian, for those that respond to emergencies, those that have begun the initial work of relief and recovery, and for church communities as they reach out to their most vulnerable members and neighbors.

FOYER DINNER GROUPS | SIGN UP BY SEPTEMBER 8
St. Paul’s Foyer Dinner Groups are a fun and easy way to meet other parishioners and enjoy their company in an informal home setting! Foyer Dinner Groups will be small groups of roughly 8 parishioners who meet throughout the year for simple meals and conversation. There is no formal agenda, nor any assignment beyond starting the meal with prayer. Foyer Dinner Groups typically take place in the home of group members and meals are intended to be simple and shared. Groups will be (re)formed each year and are made up of singles, couples, young parishioners, retirees, etc. To sign up, please contact Claire Broome in the Church Office by September 8: cbroome@stpaulschatt.org.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 | ACOLYTE TRAINING
Fr. Joe will offer a training session for new acolytes on Saturday, September 14, at 10:30 a.m. in the nave. Any acolytes who need a refresher course are welcome to attend. The training will conclude by 11:45 a.m. Email Fr. Joe, woodfin@stpaulschatt.org, with questions.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 | SUNDAY SCHOOL RETURNS
Sunday School returns September 15! We offer Sunday School classes for all ages. Stay tuned for more details! All classes (for all ages) meet at 9:15 am.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 | PLEASANT GARDENS CEMETERY TOUR + EUCHARIST

On Sunday Sept. 22, at 3:00 p.m., join St. Paul’s for a walking tour of Pleasant Gardens Cemetery, one of Chattanooga’s historically black cemeteries and the resting place of Ed Johnson, a victim of lynching. We will learn about local history and Ed’s story, and share the Eucharist. Meet at the corner of Rowe Rd. and Ridgeside Rd.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 | 6:00 P.M. - 7:30 P.M.
DE-ESCALATION + CRISIS INTERVENTION TRAINING

On September 25, from 6:00–7:30 p.m., Officer David Lewis will lead a presentation on de-escalation and crisis intervention. This training offers awareness and insight into mental health issues and offers strategies for responding with discernment and compassion to folks in the midst of crisis or in need of help. Childcare is available and dinner will be provided (recommended donation $5 for dinner). Please register online or by calling the church office. Training is required for staff and very strongly recommended for ushers, greeters, and office volunteers. Register with the Church Office (266-8195 or cbroome@stpaulschatt.org) or to https://tinyurl.com/y6pjdjjk.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 | 4:00 P.M.
CHORAL EVENSONG FOR THE FEAST
OF ST. MICHAEL + ALL ANGELS

Lasting about 45 minutes, Choral Evensong is a uniquely Anglican (Episcopalian) service for the close of the day. It consists of scripture, prayers from the Book of Common Prayer, and music sung by St. Paul’s Senior Choir. All are welcome. Free-will offering. Reception follows. Childcare available.

SIGN UP FOR YOUTH/CHILDREN'S HANDBELLS
Children and youth interested in learning the art of handbells are invited to join our handbell choirs! Rehearsals begin Sunday, September 8 for WindRingers, which meets weekly following the 10:30 a.m. service until 1 p.m. If there are enough sign-ups, beginners will be placed in the Kool Chimes learning choir, which meets on Wednesday evenings. For more information, or to sign up, please contact Andrea Spraggins at bellsdirector@hotmail.com or (423) 505-6126. Late registration is also available for St. Nicholas and St. Andrew Choirs - please visit our website to register.

VOLUNTEER NEEDED FOR COFFEE HOUR + BREAKFAST
One way you can be part of St. Paul’s hospitality ministry is to provide refreshments for those informal gatherings after the 10:30 Eucharists on Sundays. The Church will provide all beverages and will reimburse you up to $50 per Sunday for light fare of your choice. Partner in this ministry with a friend; prepare the goodies as a family – it’s a great way to help your fellow parishioners. Sign up in the Narthex today or contact patty@stpaulschatt.org.

Would you like to help with the Breakfast Ministry on Sunday mornings? Patty provides the basics and guidance on cooking -- if you can crack an egg you can be a breakfast cook! Sign up in the Narthex or contact Tom Kale (tskale@epbfi.com) or Patty Brigham (patty@stpaulschatt.org).

YMCA EARLY LEARNING CENTER AT ST. PAUL'S
Enrollment for the YMCA Early Learning Center at St. Paul’s has begun! St. Paul’s is excited to announce the expansion of the Downtown YMCA Child Development Center’s three-star preschool into the church’s facility. The Early Learning Center, where children ages 1-2 years will be cared for, is anticipated to open in September 2019. Children ages 3-5 years will continue their early education at the Downtown YMCA Child Development Center. Class openings are available for all ages. To learn more, contact Preschool Director Jessica Storey at jstorey@ymcachattanooga.org or call (423) 266-3766.

MISSING NURSERY PAGERS
Please check your diaper bags! We are missing several pagers from the Nursery. The batteries have likely run out, so we cannot send a signal to find them. If you find a pager, please return it to the Church Office or contact Patty Brigham: patty@stpaulschatt.org.
