Dear  Children's Care-Takers and Patients,
Let's Keep Our Kids Healthy As They Head back to School!

Labor Day has come and gone and kids are back at school. This year as you gather your kid's pens, pencils, and paper, also think about what foods will go into their lunch boxes. Why? because it seems that the childhood obesity epidemic in a runaway train.

The percentage of obesity in children and adolescents has more than tripled since the 1970s. Current data show that nearly 1 in 5 school-age children and young people (6 to 19 years) in the U.S is obese. Around the World, The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 43 million children are obese with 81% of them living in developing countries. This number is expected to increase to 60 million over the next decade.  Fast-food is to our kids' body what social media has become to their shaping minds: Sometimes Junk. And Our next generations are becoming physically and emotionally scarred by this new normal way of living. That is why I am excited to share some great articles written by our talented team of practitioners.

Dr. Maggie Ney, a working mother of three, effectively outlines how parents can help their children have nutritious, fun lunches. She also shares some of her delicious kid-friendly recipes.  in his article Families and Screen Time, Dr. David Laramie discusses our culture's fascination with phones and the internet and how they limit family engagement. He discusses how lack of engagement due to the overuse of social media can lead to anxiety.

We know and some of us have personally experienced by caring for a sleep-deprived child, how important the proper amount of sleep is for a child's developing brain. As a parent of three children myself, I know how difficult it can be to get your child to go sleep. That's where Dr. Boston comes to help. In her article Children's Sleep Habits, she offers some helpful tips on how to effectively get your child to sleep.

Lastly, We know how hard it can be to find well-trained integrative practitioners in other parts of the country. Because Akasha is  Passionately  Committed to meeting our Patients wherever they are utilizing innovation to make health-care delivery services easier, we've decided to BRING OUR TEAM CLOSER TO YOU We are now offering TELEHEALTH VIDEO CARE.
