Saying “no” can be hard to do, but when you think about it, why is that? The word “no” holds magic and power; it reinforces the commitments already on our plates. It preserves free moments.
If life were a plant, I would consider “no” to be pruning. Sometimes you have to trim the pieces that aren’t thriving to preserve the rest. (Yes, I quit my part time plant mother job and I’m clearly not over it, but I did it so I could focus on things that are more of a priority to my inner fulfillment. Hence the inspiration for this whole month.)
How are you feeling deep down? What do you need? Slow down and listen. What is your heart trying to tell you? How about your mind? Where are the conflicts? Confront them.
If I had to guess, I’d say I’m in this headspace lately because we’re in the season of Fall…
I love you Fall, don’t get me wrong, but we all know what comes after you and the mention of that name becomes borderline triggering this time of year. Every summer I feel like I’m in the final stretch of a marathon wrapping up Summer well into mid-Fall, then boom, it’s snowing. Insert me screaming: BUT I WASN’T READY YET!
Rinse and repeat. Every year.
Except, not this time around.
I’m ready for something new.
There’s something about Winter I’m looking forward to this year…
I hate you Winter, don’t get me wrong, but I guess when I zoom out and think about it, you’re actually kinda nice. If this frigid season were a person, they would be equal parts liberating as they are confrontational. I’m ready to dig into self development and lifestyle design in a bare and honest way and I know my pal Winter will coop me up indoors as per usual.
This year, as winter approaches I am genuinely looking forward to it.
And I think that’s why I’m enjoying Fall to the fullest.
