It's good to be back!

Lovely to see so many of you back at class last week. Still lots of you missing  so if you are waiting to shift a few lb's on your own 1st - don't wait as you will continue putting it off and gain more weight. We can get you back on track quicker if you are back in class.
ALL  classes are open with spaces at the moment so I  look forward to seeing you there, spaces are limited in some classes ,some classes  are beginning to fill up,especially my morning classes so if you are thinking of rejoining be quick before they are full and I close them to new members/re joiners.
Have to say it was great getting back to classes last week and having some normality back in my life once again.
Some got on the scales and lost weight, most got on and gained weight and some couldn't even face the scales so didn't!
You know me well enough by now to know that I never make you get on the scales .If you are struggling to get back on track then the best place to be is back in the class enviroment, chatting to me and fellow class members, plus picking up tips from the talk, not forgetting the huge benefit the exercise session has on you too!

I love how September can feel like a ‘second chance’. As the new school year beckons,it’s an opportunity for all the resolutions that we made back in January to be taken up again…with gusto!
Whether your plans are to exercise more and get in better shape,or to change a personal aspect of your life you can find hope in knowing many others are making similar plans and together we are going to finish this year with the goals we started it with.. Last week in class I asked you to all make plans for a September reset, if you haven't done it yet,do it today..
There were a mixture of replies! Some of you are extremely focused , raring to go and straight back to the beginning with 1200 calories, some of you are struggling so have gone back with their normal calorie allowance without putting too much pressure on themselves, some of you have totally lost the plot and are just trying to cut one bad habit out at a time.
We are all at different stages of our weight loss journey, the important thing is we don't give up...

If you are at home thinking 'i'll just get this holiday weight off before I go back to class' then stop right there. That is what I am here for so, big deep breath get yourself back to class and brave the scales.
You'll be glad you did once those clothes start feeling a bit looser in the next week or so.

Contacting me
Unfortunately my mobile phone has broken and is at the apple repair shop so email me if you need me and be patient as I can only reply when i'm home. If you have messaged me since Thursday then apologies if I have not replied, I haven't received it.
Important announcement - Wednesday evening ARCA hall
In order to avoid the road closure on the Ashford rd for the next 2 weeks, class will run 15 minutes earlier.Weigh in will be from 5.55 until 6.20pm. We will start the exercise at 6.30 and finish prompt at 7.15 to give us ample time to get away before the rd closes at 7.30pm.
On another note,Wednesday evening was very quiet in class last week with very few in the holiday diary. Please use this class or lose it. Wednesday evenings can be extremely difficult for me to get to some weeks with family commitments and it requires an awful lot of juggling to just get to you on time so please make every effort to come along to class to keep it open.
All day breakfast muffin
These all-day breakfast muffins let you swap your weekend fry-up for an all-in-one, low calorie muffin. It's bacon and eggs without the fat overload.
Serves 12 Prep 5 min Cook 25 min
147 Calories Each

Ingredients
  • 500g potatoes, peeled and coarsely grated
  • 175g cubed pancetta
  • 1 onion, finely sliced
  • 6 eggs, separated
  • 5tbsp plain flour
  • 3tbsp skimmed milk
  • Bunch fresh chives, snipped
  • 4tbsp reduced sugar and salt tomato ketchup, to serve
Method
  1. Heat the oven to 200°C/fan 180°C/gas 6 and line a 12-hole muffin tin with muffin cases (silicon cases work best).
  2. Rinse the grated potatoes under running water. Drain, then squeeze out as much water as you can, using a clean J-cloth (you may need to do this in batches).
  3. Heat a large non-stick frying pan. When hot, add the pancetta and fry until crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon and transfer to a mixing bowl. Drain off the fat from the pan, then add the potatoes and onion to the pan and fry for 5–8 min, using a fork to break up any bits that stick together (add a spoonful of water if necessary), until browned and tender. Transfer the mixture to the bowl with the pancetta and combine.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks with the flour using a balloon whisk, then season. Slowly pour in the milk, whisking to combine. Stir the potato mixture and chives through the batter.
  5. In a separate, spotlessly clean bowl, use an electric hand mixer to whip the egg whites to stiff peaks, then gently fold through the potato batter until just combined. Spoon into the muffin cases and bake for 10–12 min until puffed, golden and springy to touch.
  6. Remove the tin from the oven, leave the muffins to cool for a few min (like soufflés, they’ll sink a little), then serve while still warm with 1tsp ketchup per muffin.

The big picture can be daunting...
For many of us, the 'fear' of how far we have to go with our weight loss and fitness campaign scares us so much that we just keep putting it off. Three or four stones can seem an incredibly long way off when you're losing 2 pounds a week.

The message I'm trying to get across is that, yes it's a few months of hard work, but once we've done the hard work it's not over it's onto the hard job of maintaining!

So just think to yourself, honestly, just how long you've been promising yourself that you'll deal with that extra weight you're carrying, and think where you could be right now if you hadn't kept putting it off again and again.

DO IT !! DO IT NOW !! Strike while the iron's hot, as they say.
Let's make January 2020 the first January in goodness knows how many years that your new year's resolution isn't a huge scary task of shifting all your weight, because you've already made a good start and are in the right frame of mind!

It won't be long before we start our next challenge campaign. Perfect chance to get on and make a huge difference to how you look and feel before we break for Christmas.

This will give you all the help advice and support you need, including how to avoid undoing all the good work you've done throughout the autumn.

Advance warning - the children will be having a half term holiday in October ....... (As they do every year) And it's just after you get started on your Countdown to Christmas.
Get your diaries and calendars organised NOW to ensure that you get to a class during that week.
Unless of course having the children at home is the perfect excuse to skip classes
Weight losses and achievements
Well it wasn't our best week for weight losses but is was a great week for such positive attitude! So many of you faced up too the scales, faced up to the summer weight gain with a determined attitude to shift those summer lbs. Please don't ever think it is just you that has gained weight and coming back to class a little bigger this September. The most important thing is that you come back and face it rather than stay away and try to lose it yourself at home before coming back to class, that's what I am here for,new card and a new start.
For those of you that did manage to lose weight well done, was chuffed to bits I managed to stay the same after my week off!
My Final thought...
It would be really, really easy to convince ourselves this time of the year that we still have 'plenty of time'

Every year, without fail, I have members realising in October, that they have a lots of parties and occasions in Nov and Dec and they STILL haven't lost that stone they promised themselves they'd lose in January.

Achieving what we want with time to spare is the way we would lke to do it, however life isn't like that sometimes.
There is still time to make a HUGE difference before we break for Christmas.

How good would it be if this year, maybe for the first time ever, you could choose which outfit you want to wear every single time you go out, rather than wearing the outfit which happens to fit on any particular day??

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
See you in class
