The first day of school can be hard for Mom and Dad. Part of you feels excited, the other part feels sad. For many years you've held their hand, and have been their loving guide. Now you know the time has come to leave them by our side. But it is only for a little while, as your child will learn and grow. And at the end of everyday, they will share with you all they know. So as you walk away don’t worry anymore. We'll take care of all those precious gifts when you leave them at our door.

Welcome Back! I hope you and your child/ren are as excited as I am about being back in school. I love the summer and enjoy catching up on some great summer reading but there is something about being around those kids!
The Reflections Arts Program encourages students to tap their inner creativity and express themselves through their artwork. Students are invited to reflect on a common theme -- "Look Within" -- and submit original artwork in one of six categories:
• Dance Choreography • Film Production
• Literature • Music Composition
•Photography • Visual Arts
Reflections focuses on positive recognition, instead of competition, so that students of all ages and skill levels can experience the joy of creating art and expressing themselves imaginatively. Each entry must meet the category requirements (as specified in the Reflections participation rules) and must be accompanied by a completed Student Entry Form.
Entries are due Friday, October 18 before school in the cafeteria. Entry forms and can be found outside the FME office or on the Reflections website. For additional information, visit https://www.txpta.org/reflections-participation for entry forms, rules, and more. For questions, contact Denise Roberts at smilingroberts@gmail.com.
THINK KINDNESS
Thursday, September 5th is our first assembly sponsored by PTA. Brian Williams is a motivational speaker and he will bring Think Kindness to us on Thursday afternoon. Our students will be challenged to complete 5,000 acts of kindness in 15 days! Each child will receive a kindness journal to keep track of their acts of kindness. Let's see if we can become the kindest school in LISD!!!!
Sept 11, is First Responders Day and 9-11. We will follow district guidelines for the commemoration. It usually involves a moment of silence and an announcement read by the teachers.
Are your children looking for a different after school activity? Clubs start on Thursday, Sept 13. Many of the clubs are outside vendors which have been approved by the district. FME does not profit from any of these vendors. We simply offer the opportunity to your students. Please see the website for a list of all clubs available. Flyers/information should have been coming home in your student’s home folder.
Spirit Night
Wednesday, Sept 18th at 5pm-8pm
Chick-fil-A 2499 and 3040
