LWVHC UPDATES
September 22, 2019

"The most significant civil rights problem is voting. Each citizen's right to vote is fundamental to all the other rights of citizenship and the Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1960 make it the responsibility of the Department of Justice to protect that right."
Robert Kennedy -
Robert Francis Kennedy was an American politician and lawyer who served as the 64th United States Attorney General from January 1961 to September 1964, and as a U.S. Senator from New York from January 1965 until his assassination in June 1968. Wikipedia

Thank you for your past support and for renewing today so we can continue to have the impact you’ve come to expect from the League!

In this time of heightened partisanship, gridlock between policy makers and increased frustration among the public, there has never been a more urgent need for the reasoned, factual and civil voice of the League.  As a member, you are a crucial part of our non-partisan, hands-on work to safeguard democracy and create lasting change.

For your convenience we have two ways to renew this year:
1.
To ensure we have your current contact information please complete the form on our website
http://www.lwvhcnc.org/join.php and submit your payment with a credit card via PayPal (note, there is a small service fee for paying via credit card); or
2. Complete and print the form on our website and mail to us along with your check.

Thank you for your continued commitment to the League of Women Voters.  We are counting on you to renew today!

Do You Attend Public Meetings?

The Observer Team is looking for help from members who attend public meetings.  If you attend a meeting, please consider visiting this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7KHWZY9  and answering these ten simple questions: 1) your name 2) name of agency observed 3) date of meeting 4) information on the meeting facility 5) number of members/staff from agency present 6) procedure of Roberts Rules being followed? 7) # of persons from public present 8) information on items approved or postponed 9) items of interest to LWVHC based on our positions 10) anything else?  For some answers your best guess is perfectly acceptable (#5 for example, based on what you observe and think about the meeting. Your help would be appreciated!
