Position:
Assistant Professor of Music Education - full time, tenure track
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Doctorate in Music Education (ABD will be considered); three or more years of experience as a licensed music teacher in a U.S. elementary, middle, and/or high school. Preferred Qualifications: Five or more years of K-12 music teaching experience; recent K-12 experience; experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds; and student teacher supervision experience.
Position Expectations:
The normal teaching load is equivalent to six courses per year. Regular teaching responsibilities include courses within the music education curriculum (both in the music and the education departments) and supervising field experiences and student teachers. There are also opportunities to teach interdisciplinary courses, off-campus courses, first-year writing, etc. Faculty members are expected to be productive scholars; the College and department offer significant opportunities and support for faculty to engage in scholarly activity, including research with undergraduates and interdisciplinary teaching. Duties also involve advising, committee service, and departmental and institutional obligations.
