Primary

Word from the Primary Head

A number of you have approached Mr Vesseau and I with your concerns regarding the CE1 to CM2 playtime this year, sharing your impressions that the time allocated to playtime this year is much longer than last year. In fact, as you can see from the comparative tables below, playtime is only 5 minutes longer this year than last.

As we announced on 3rd June the TES EPC timetable underwent some changes this year. Timings changed from 20/40 minutes to 15/ 30 minutes. Classes now start at 8am, rather than 8:10am and CLC classes finish at 12:30pm for some year groups. Instead of 40 minutes for FS only junior playtime, this year we rounded up to 45 minutes. We could not 'round down' to 30 minutes, as our students would then exceed the maximum amount of class time permitted by the French Ministry of Education. As Mr Vesseau wrote to you in May French Section primary students are permitted 26 hours of class time a week - including 30 minutes of morning break time per day -  on account of the French, English and Chinese language programme we follow.

One of the reasons, the additional 5 minutes of playtime may seem longer this year could be on account of the delay with the ECAs starting back. From today, Music lessons and the MJ Kids will resume for enrolled students. These ECAs will take place during the FS only playtime. In addition, students enrolled in the FAL and FLC pathways have their additional lessons from 1:30-2:15pm, as do students that class teachers request to see for additional tuition (APC).

French Section Team Colour T-Shirts

As a security measure, we ask that all students wear the French Section team colour t-shirts for class outings. Please note that orders and payment for t-shirts (300 NT$) must first be made using the TESmile AOS system. Once payment has been made T-shirts can then be collected from Min-Hui at the office.

QR Codes for CLC Seesaw

The CLC team have started using Seesaw. As they have students from all three Sections in their classes, they cannot use the existing Seesaw accounts. This week they will send home a QR code so that you can connect to your child’s CLC Seesaw portfolio. They will be updating content approximately once a week.
