SEPTEMBER 2019 EDITION

FROM THE TEAM LEADER

Dear friend,

INVITATION TO PARTNER IN THIS HISTORIC EVENT

Thank you for the opportunity to share more about our upcoming LOVE CAPE TOWN CITYFEST, and to appeal for your financial partnership to help make this historic event possible. This is a city-wide campaign initiated by African Enterprise and the Luis Palau Association, who between us have over 100 years of experience, in partnership with the Churches of Cape Town.
Please see our 2min promotional video by clicking on this link
The Love Cape Town CityFest will have different kinds of activities that include the following:

1. Three festivals with up to 20 000 people in attendance per festival. At each festival there will be kids games, action sports, live music by nationally acclaimed artists, and a message of hope for Cape Town.
  • The three festivals will be held on the following dates;
  • 2 November 2019, Westridge Gardens, Mitchells Plain
  • 9 November 2019, Mandela Park, Khayelitsha
  • 16 November 2019, Grand Parade, CBD
2. Community upliftment programs where hundreds of volunteers will be participating. This will include a 'sweep the city' initiative and drug awareness campaigns in the schools.

3. Outreaches in hospitals, factories, prisons and informal areas.

4. Dinner events for high profile leaders.

Through these actions, we desire to see real-world impact and long-term reduction in many of our social ills such as corruption and other crimes, gangster-ism, drug abuse, violence against women and children etc.

We have secured 50% of our R5.5 million budget, and we hope you will be able to assist us to make this campaign a reality. We would be most grateful!

We can also meet at your request, to discuss the different forms of media exposure for you or your company, should you so wish eg. internet, radio, TV, or print media.

TRAINING NEWS

African Enterprise was represented at the ES Connect 2019 Conference which was held from 29 - 31 August 2019 in Pretoria, and organised through the Evangelist Support Network, an organisation that exists to provide the Evangelist with impartation, information, and inspiration on how to present the riches of Jesus Christ in a culturally creative and Spirit empowered way.

Evangelists were duly equipped to fulfill their purpose with knowledge, direction and Spirit-saturated confidence. They heard from international speakers on topics ranging from intercession and ministering, to administration and mission planning. Those pouring their God-given wisdom into the delegates included Suzette Hattingh of Voice in the City, Thea Britz of Christ for all Nations, and Tamryn Klintworth and Samuel Murrombe from In His Name Ministries.

Time was set aside for question and answer sessions as well as heartfelt fellowship. Relationships were forged and divine connections established. The conference concluded with a powerful time of prayer and impartation. We trust that this three-day gathering of Christ-centred proclamation Evangelists will bear abundant fruit for both South Africa and the continent, as we work together to see Africa won for Christ!

BOOK TOUR NEWS

The last couple of weeks have been very exciting for our Legacy department. We have gone on tour with the launch of Michael Cassidy's memoirs 'Footprints in the African Sand: My life and times'.

We kicked the tour off with a hearty celebration at the African Enterprise (AE) Conference Centre and have since been to Hilton, Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town, George and PE. We still have 3 launches to go in Howick, Durban and Bloemfontein.  It has been lovely for the next generation team to meet many people who have journeyed with and supported AE over the years, and also for Michael to reconnect with the Barnabas groups of young leaders that he has sought to mentor and encourage in recent years.

At each book launch Michael introduced Theuns (AESA Team Leader) and shared on how the memoirs covers the history of the first generation at AE, but that it has always been his dream that the work would be multi-generational. Theuns had an opportunity to share AESA's vision and current projects, after which Michael and Carol were interviewed by dynamic young leaders about the memoirs and the legacy. These interviews were very engaging and rich in wisdom and inspiration. Michael braved all these events despite having to cope with some health issues.

We are also excited to announce that Frans Cronje and his team at Global Creative Films are working on a documentary based on Michael Cassidy's book 'A Witness Forever', which speaks about God's hand in the events that led to South Africa’s peaceful transition in 1994. They are well into the project and have started filming interviews across the country this week. Please pray with us that this documentary will inspire many in our nation, at this crucial time, to turn to God.

MISSION TO KENOSIS COMMUNITY

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” - Ephesians 2: 10

Dear AE Friends and Family,

I am pleased to inform you of a blessed two-day mission I was able to have at the Kenosis Community in Bishopstowe, Table Mountain just outside of Pietermaritzburg a few weeks ago.  This community consists primarily of House Mother’s that have taken on the godly responsibility of looking after and caring for orphaned children of all ages.

Many of these mothers have given up their entire lives to the service of looking after orphaned children and so over the years these children and their mothers have become a family and so a collection of families became a community who love, care and protect one another.  The Kenosis property also houses the Bishopstowe ECD Crèche that services and educates over 20 small children in Grade R and RR from the surrounding area, a beautiful Chapel and conference facility.

By invitation we were asked to minister to, and counsel, some of the young adults and children that have grown up in this community and who face spiritual strongholds and natural obstacles that come from having an orphan spirit, not to mention the challenges they are having to overcome on a daily basis due to fatherlessness, rejection, poverty and the lack of proper moral and biblical principles and foundation in their lives.  By the grace of God I was also able to minister to most of the house mother’s and as well as the community of small children attending the crèche.

The challenges out there can be overwhelming, as can the never-ending battle to make ends meet.  But instead of giving up, this community under the leadership of Mark and Moira Emerson have decided to step out in faith, and seek fellowship and partnerships with other believers who are willing and able to help grow and develop this community to face these demands, knowing that the risen Christ gives us the strength to take on these challenges with courage, hope and perseverance.

It has indeed been a wonderful blessing and privilege for myself on behalf of African Enterprise to make such a contribution through ‘word and deed’ into this community and we pray that this association will continue to grow from strength to strength in helping lay a firm biblical foundation in the lives of these children at the Kenosis Community.
