Things to look out for this season....
Well first of all, a fantastic exhibition of Photography taken in Africa by Esther Serrano opens at Karamel on 17 September with accompanying masterclasses in October. N22 Open Studios back again! Our 23rd edition - an event where over 100 artists and designer-makers open their doors to the public in 4 buildings, with 3 exhibitions and the launch of our newest studios at Artspace 5. Outstanding emerging musicians and artists showcases this month from Tomorrows Warrior's Maddy Coombs at Karamel (26 Sept) to among | bright | lights, Harmoney Blues and Noah Stoneman over the London-wide weekend opening of museum lates, the Emerge Festival (27/28 Sept). Woo Hoo! The EFG London Jazz Festival comes to Wood Green this November - seven gigs at Karamel with emerging and established bands covering a wide spectrum of jazz and live music from Jen Kearney Quartet, Samuel Eagles, Marco & The Freedivers, Azhaar & Global Waves, Unnati and Jyotsna Srikanth featuring Alex Wilson (15-24 Nov).
We welcome the brilliantly witty and gleeful Attila the Stockbroker for the season opener of Poetry and Poppadums (13 Sept) alongside marvelous Asher Hoyles and razor-sharp Matt Abbott. Future headliners are critically acclaimed Kat Francois (18 Oct) and superbly prolific Michael Rosen (29 Nov).

Presenting the work of Esther Serrano, a Spanish artist based in London, people places . Recently, she has become a member of the Muswell Hill Photographic Society, and won the Mike McCarthy Photographic Award 2016 for Art in Nature.
A series of Photographic workshops will be running in October alongside the exhibition. Watch this space!!

The End of Summer Jazz Party
Internationally acclaimed jazz trumpeter and creator of the 'Enfield sound', Henry Lowther, invites you to come over for a party, jam and end of summer celebration of jazz at Karamel with friends and favourite musicians, including Kate Williams (piano), Dave Green (bass), Les Cirkel (drums) providing rhythm section, alongside some greats within the UK jazz scene. All are welcome to join in the revelry and impromptu improvised performances.

Tomorrow's Warriors presents Maddy Coombs
Award-winning hothouse Tomorrow's Warriors (TW) presents the next generation of Jazz musicians supported through their music development programme. This showcase features Maddy Coombs - a young tenor saxophonist and composer, originally from Northampton.
Line-up - Maddy Coombs (tenor sax), Francisco Garcia De Paredes (guitar), Cameron Barnett (bass), Callum Murray (drums).

Launched in 2018 to give young people from 8 to 18 years old, the chance to explore their creativity through performing, creative writing, singing-songwriting and media arts. After a successful year, we are back offering a variety of classes encompassing different age ranges at £2 per session. That's not a typo, it's £2 per person per week for each class. From the COLLAGE WRITING ROOM...
This is going to be a lovely course - you can expect to have lots of fun and be highly creative and productive! Great for beginners, returners to writing, or people who are keen to transfer between disciplines. Thursday mornings, 10.30am to 1pm; dates October 3, 10, 17, (half term), 31, November 7, 14 ; cost £99; venue Writing Room
This course is for anyone who likes the idea of writing creatively, and would like help in identifying their strengths and interests. Over the six sessions we will explore three areas of writing: life writing, short fiction, and poetry. We will look at examples of published work to consider the possibilities of each form, and – through fun workshop exercises in class – we will write our own pieces and share with the group. By the end of session six, students can expect to have generated a range of new work, and to have developed ideas about which writing projects or writing courses courses they might like to embark on next.
