Partner with Running Excels & Market Your Business with the Tombstone 5K

The Tombstone 5K is a seasonal event organized by local retailer Running Excels. This family friendly 5K is open to runners and walkers and takes place on Saturday, October 19 at 8:30 a.m. in the Mt. Greenwood Cemetery. This year, why not use the race as an opportunity to promote your business?
  1. You can contribute promotional material to the swag bags that participating runners will receive at the race. Running Excels expects to have some 400 registered runners who will receive bags filled with promotional material, coupons, and other goodies.
  2. Or sponsor the race and have your business name and logo placed on the hoodies each participant will receive. Send an email to Erin Ross for details on becoming a sponsor or contributing promotional materials!

Jimmy Jamm’s Needs Our Support—Please Stop in This Week

Our beloved Jimmy Jamm’s has been struggling lately. The family-owned business is contemplating closing after 11 years in our neighborhood. We know many residents and merchants alike are fans of their sweet potato pie, ice cream, and all of their wonderful products.

Let’s FLOOD their store this week and show them how much we value their presence on 95th Street!

Wine Walk Returns Sept. 19

We are once again partnering with the Mt. Greenwood Business and Community Association to host a Wine Walk on Thursday, Sept. 19. Because of streetscape work on 95th Street, the walk will take place on 111th Street this year from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. The event kicks off at the new Barraco’s event space on 111th Street. You can purchase tickets online or contact Erin Ross for more information. Get your tickets before they sell out!

Streetscape Update

If you have visited the east end of 95th Street,  you know that our streetscape phase III project is well underway! The construction team is doing their best to minimize interruption to your business. We are in contact with the project manager each week. Please contact Erin Ross if you have any questions regarding the construction progress.

Slice of 95th Street is a GO for the BAW!

We are gearing up for our hub at 95th and Hamilton for the 6th Annual Beverly Art Walk  on Saturday, Sept. 21, from noon until 6:00 p.m.  Alderman O’Shea is sponsoring free pizza samples from Peace of Pizza. Two Mile Coffee will be selling their wonderful coffee. Beautiful artworks will be showcased inside the pop up gallery space, and we are finalizing plans to have a fantastic blues band with us from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. It’s not too late for your business to get in on the fun! Please email Erin Ross if you’d like to participate.

Farmers Market News

We are thrilled to announce that the 95th Street Farmers Market mural commissioned in 2017 is now part of the City of Chicago’s Mural Registry! We placed an official City of Chicago Mural Emblem on it at the September 8 Farmers Market.

The mural measures about 100 feet long by 14 feet tall and was painted by local artist Elaine Miller. It illustrates Beverly’s transition from a rural community to an urban landscape. You can view the Farmers Market mural via an online map of the city’s mural registry.

The Farmers Market is going strong, and the season continues through the month of October. Be sure to stop by on Sundays to select fresh picked produce, enjoy family friendly entertainment and connect with community partners, too!
