Jess Kimball can help save your pages...

I like my thrillers on the page more than real life, don't you? A recent thriller threatened our state and we were all glad to see it go.

Thankfully, I wasn't in the path of Hurricane Dorian. I hope those of you along the East Coast who were impacted by Dorian are okay.

This time, Dorian turned north and hit Florida with nothing more than some rain and a bit of wind. The surfers were happy with the big waves and the rest of us were happy we dodged this one -- and survived to await the next. Hurricane season doesn't end until November.

For a while, though, it looked like Dorian would hit Tampa. Everyone remembered the hit from Hurricane Irma a couple of years ago, and this time, folks were determined to be better prepared.

When hurricanes approach the Tampa area from the Gulf, like Irma did in 2017, residents will often drive inland to wait for the storm to pass. But when hurricanes approach from the Atlantic, like Dorian, there's literally nowhere to run unless you start out days early and head north west.

Like a swarm of locusts, area residents cleared the local shelves of bread, water, and batteries. Long lines at the gas stations drained the gas pumps. Portable generators sold out at the Home Depot, Lowes, Sam's and Costco. Homeowners scurried to secure their windows and anything that might be picked up and hurled by the heavy winds.

These storms can be terrifying and destructive. Be safe out there!

Meanwhile, one thing that often happens in hurricanes is power outages. During Irma, our home was without power for three days and other homes in our neighborhood were without power for more than a week.

Which makes reading devices challenging to charge up.

Readers like me (and probably you, I'm guessing) turn to print books to feed our reading habit while we wait for power to be restored.

Or maybe you just prefer to read print all the time.

Anyway, I saw this cute joke on Facebook and thought you might be as amused by it as I was.

So let's be prepared. How about we save your pages, not only when the power goes out, but whenever you want to read a print book?

Download these printable Jess Kimball bookmarks and you'll never need to fold your book pages again.

Never Miss Out

Thanks to all of you who posted reviews for my books. Reviews are like giving an author a hug. They really do help readers decide whether to give my books a try. Five words or five paragraphs -- it really doesn't matter. Just an honest recommendation to a potential reader is all we need. I really appreciate the help!

Until next time when we have more exciting news and other stuff Exclusively For You, remember to add my address to your email address book so that you never miss my emails.
