Dear friends of DFC,
We are excited to announce that the Doctors for Change Board of Directors approved the formation of the DFC Queer Health committee at their meeting in July. As your committee co-leads, we look forward to working with you all to support Queer Health and the LGBTQIA+ community in Texas! We have identified four areas where we feel DFC can make a strategic contribution: Provider Education, Queer Health Policy, Healthcare Practice Reform, and Allyship. In the coming months we will be reaching out to healthcare facilities in Texas to boost participation in the Human Rights Campaign’s Healthcare Equality Index, organizing forums on LGBTQIA+ healthcare disparities, and meeting with providers in groups small and large to address gaps in knowledge of Queer Health.
We are looking for DFC members to get involved and help shape the committee’s direction. If you are interested please reach out and join us at the next and upcoming DFC leadership meetings, which meets on the last Monday of every month. The next meeting is Monday, September 30th from 6:30 pm – 8:00pm at Children At Risk, 2900 Weslayan St #400, Houston, TX 77027.
