Bird Dogging: "Hi, I have a suggestion that would be a huge bonanza for your company if it can be worked out. While researching a material to solve another problem, I learned of some special mats developed to help the Army land helicopters on the sand in Iraq during the Iraq war. There might be some of this material available as salvage, I am thinking. Anyway, thought you should know. I used to get your newsletter but it was discontinued so I just signed up again." - Mike Hanna RE: Mike, we appreciate "bird dogs" like you who alert us to possible materials that could be "repurposed"!
Q: Like Mike's helicopter landing mats, do you know of a material that would be a good candidate for "repurposing"? Email Us Details>>

BEFORE: These two outdoor Digital Displays were south facing displays and needed to be readable in the bright midday sunshine. As these LED sign displays age, they become dimmer over time. These start out at 7,000 NITS. This sign now measures about 3,000 NITS. 3,000 NITS is still useable in the daytime it is just at the lower end of the brightness scale for daytime use. By contrast, signs at night display at about 300 NITS. So, these displays have life left in a less intense light environment like indoor, dusk, and at night.

repurposedCUSTOMER: "James bought some of our 6’ steel pipe. He lives on a fairly sharp bend and people driving end up going right on his property instead of following the road. He has had his house and vehicles hit. He is building this fence with steel pipe kind of like guardrails on a highway to protect his property and home from further damage by careless and/or drunk drivers." - Renate

repurposedINBOX: "We have a huge liner coming off our glycol storage ponds at our de-icing fluid recycling facility at the Salt Lake City airport. The liner material does have an odor. He’ll be the one that can work with you to pick up the material." - Tony

Invitation: The STAR Reuse Council would like to invite repurposedMATERIALS to speak in an upcoming webinar on September 26 about the Circular Economy in Texas. The webinar is intended to introduce the concept of circular economy (e.g. show how it is different than recycling), and provide Texas-based examples of the circular economy. We’d like to invite you to speak about your material marketplace as it relates to Product Life Extension -- using repair, refurbishment, donation, or other reuse to maintain products or find a second product user.
