An update from Becki

Dear <<First Name>>,

Sometimes it’s difficult to communicate effectively about all the great things happening in BYSP. There are almost too many things to talk about. There are my highlights from the last year.
Stir

One of the most exciting things that we get the privilege of being involved in is young people making faith commitments. Last year we met with 29 young people in our Stir groups and saw 6 make first time commitments to Jesus. As well as this, 2 made recommitments to their faith, and 1 young person asked to be baptised. What’s great about these young people is that we see all of them in other parts of the programme. Either in school, where we met 1940 students through lessons, assemblies, and lunch clubs or at The Bridge where we met 123 young people this last year.
Spree

We went to Spree West Midlands again this year with our friends from around the area. There were 54 of us on-site, but we took 6 of our young people from The Bridge along with us, 3 of whom are entirely unchurched. Over the weekend, we saw each of these young people take steps of faith. Three of them made first time commitments, and the others made reaffirming commitments, prayed with and for one another and even prayed at the front of their venue for their leaders. Spree is always such a brilliant opportunity for us to spend valuable time with the young people, and watching these 6 lads over the weekend was particularly special.
Summer Nights

Arguably one of the most creative areas of our work is the Summer Nights Programme. For six days of the Summer Holiday, we provide free food and activity for any young person in Bridgnorth. I think the impact of Summer Nights is more far-reaching than we imagined it would be. Many families come every night with a picnic and spend some really good quality time together. In fact, 460 people attended Summer Nights over the six days. Throughout these sessions, we get the opportunity to engage with young people from all areas. Some of them are regular Bridge attendees and would choose to engage with us. Others stumble across us by chance and decide to participate in the activities. Others are already out on Crown Meadow, and we engage with them through our detached programme. Ultimately I think we get to demonstrate the love of God to the community in a practical way. Although Summer ’Night’s is not evangelistic in approach, it’s a great way that we serve the community.
