2040 - Documentary screening

2040 is a documentary with a vision for a sustainable future by Damon Gameau (also the director of That Sugar Film). He embarks on a journey to explore what the future could look like by the year 2040 if we simply embrace the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them rapidly into the mainstream.

Switch your thinking would be happy to pay for a school licence and DVD for a school in a Switch your thinking Council that is interested in running a screening. You would be able to sell tickets and fundraise at the event.

There is also a range of curriculum materials which have been developed to help your class get the most out of viewing the film. These are available here.

Contact Sarah McCabe - Switch your thinking Program officer at smccabe@gosnells.wa.gov.au for further information.

The 2040 trailer can be viewed here

Reusable party kits

From disposable tableware and decorations, to gift wrapping and unwanted gifts, parties can be a significant source of waste.

Switch your thinking is offering $100 grants to P & Cs, libraries, schools, playgroups or toy libraries in Switch your thinking local government areas who would like to purchase reusable party kits for loan to parents for children’s birthday parties.

These are boxes with reusable plates, cups, bowls, bunting and cutlery which allow people to hold low waste parties. Volunteers/community members may like to sew reusable bunting, decorations and games to include in the kit.  It could also be rented out for a nominal fee as a fundraiser for P & Cs, year six camps etc. Switch your thinking will also include an information sheet with ideas for low waste birthday parties.

If your organisation is interested please contact Sarah McCabe, Switch your thinking Program Officer at smccabe@gosnells.wa.gov.au.

This project is funded through the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Account administered by the Waste Authority.
