Do not mourn...Organize!
DACC Members and Friends,
From our friends at Chico Sunrise Movement:
On Friday, September 20th, millions of people around the world will be participating in the Global Climate Strike. Join them by walking out of  work or simply out of your home to stop business as usual, draw attention to the climate crisis, and demand climate justice. We encourage you to join the rally being held at the Chico City Plaza from 11 am - 1 pm where we'll hear from youth leaders and climate champions. Details about the Chico rally can be found here. For questions about the rally, please email 350buttecounty@gmail.com.
Thank you for standing up for a livable future.
     Steven Marquardt

The Sweet September Dessert Fundraiser last week was a huge success. All enjoyed amazing desserts with speeches by the CA Democratic Party Chair Rusty Hicks , Elizabeth Betancourt, Sue Hilderbrand, Mayor Stone, Anne Schwab and others. An amazing successful evening in support of the Butte County Democratic Party. Thank you former DACC chair, and current county party Chair Lupita Arim-Law and all the DACC members and friends who made this County Party event such a success.

Voter Registration...
30 people turned out for DACC's voter registration (VR) campaign kick off last Saturday. With these folks all trained in Voter registration we will be expanding the venues and action registering voters at Butte College, CSU and other public spaces.  Lets Save the World with Voter Registration!
Please contact Aram ( 588-3864 ) for details.
We are on fire! Join us...it is so very fun.
Check out "Field Team 6" for VR ideas including a brief film on effective techniques: https://www.fieldteam6.org/

September Presidential Debate Watch party...
This Thursday the 12th at the Roundtable Pizza on Pillsbury, DACC has reserved one of the party rooms, and the Bernie folks the other for Debate watching. Lets see if we can bring the wall down for a joint event!
The Candidates on stage  are: Biden, Booker, Buttigieg, Castro, Harris, Klobuchar, O’Rourke, Sanders, Warren and Yang.
To give time for more questions, this debate has been expanded to 3 hours – from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Pacific Time. We’ll be there a little before 5:00.  There’s plenty of room, so come on out, bring a friend and let’s have some fun.  We will revive the little game from our first debate parties of having some jars set out to let you “vote” for your favorite candidate by dropping a little cash in their jar – once again, a fundraiser for DACC, not for the candidates.  This will be fun...please join us!

New Supervisor candidate:
Henry Schleiger is a candidate in Supervisor District 5 (Paradise and Magalia).  Check out his Facebook page...he is great!

He made his first introductory speech at Sweet September spoke  and will be speaking at the Paradise ridge Democratic club meeting this month:

And...The Yard sale!
DACC is having another Yard Sale!  Another great opportunity to get rid of your excess stuff and help us raise money for our important work.  Clean out that clutter!  Exercise equipment gathering dust?  Clothes you will never wear again? Artwork you’ve grown tired of?  We’ll take it.  The date is Saturday, September 28th.  The location of the sale will be at Robin Keehn’s house, 273 E. 3rd Ave. You can drop stuff off at that address beginning on Wednesday, September 25th.  If you have large items you cannot transport yourself, OR if you you absolutely must get things gone sooner than the 25th, contact David (530-566-2898 or davidwelch311@gmail.com) for help with transport or another location to drop things off.

DACC meetings are the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM at Chico Library...next up...Sept 24th:
While we are proudly a part of the Democratic party, we also have lots of allies with similar goals who choose to work outside the party structure.  And they include some of the most vibrant and energetic young organizers locally.  This month, representatives of the local chapters of two national groups will come to talk with us about who they are, and what they are doing locally and nationally.  Come to learn more about The Sunrise Movement and Democratic Socialists of America.  September 24th at 7 PM, Chico Branch Library.
See you there!

Thank you,
