Hello neon lovers —

Welcome to winter, neon's busiest season!

"Music Box" neon is back!

Music Box was a theater located in downtown Portland from 1960-1991. Restored twice by Neon Gods, the sign is now it's mounted and lit in the courtyard of a new boutique hotel bar in NoPo called Kex. An old photo of the sign is here; article about the hotel here. Go have a drink and check it out!

The Stag's Red Nose

Every year since 1957, Portland's Ramsay Sign Co. turns on the Stag's red nose for the holiday season. This year they posted a neat video about this. Apparently the nose is "a grid of neon tubing a bit bigger than a football" (not a bulb — who knew?). Oregonian article here.

2019: neon interviews

Earlier this year I had a really fun chat with Max at Mondo Neon on his podcast, this episode titled: Neon GIFs, Co-producing a Neon Festival and Walking Tours with Designer Kate Widdows. Listen here.

I was also interviewed on TV for the first time, about Portland's neon signs.

Spring 2020 neon tours are scheduled.

I'll be doing 3 tours in the spring, including a Design Week tour (date TBD). Please share these with friends! Tickets: March 28th / May 9th
