Seasons Greetings

Dear stakeholders

With 2019 drawing to a close, I’d like to take this opportunity to express my thanks and acknowledge the commitment, passion and great work maintained by the Economic Development and Tourism team over the past 12 months.

During this time, through a period of internal changes within Council, staff have continued to deliver on the Council Plan and work closely with businesses, community groups and industries to help grow East Gippslands prosperity.

Whilst still early days as the recently appointed Manager of the Economic Development and Tourism Department with Council, I have had the pleasure of getting out and about meeting and connecting with many industry leaders, Business and Tourism Associations and Government agencies who are essential in helping drive positive outcomes for our region.

These interactions have been invaluable in shaping my understanding of East Gippsland to date; its natural beauty, richness and diversity, its challenges and opportunities.  For this I’m extremely grateful and I look forward to connecting with stakeholders across the wider region in the New Year.

In 2020 our primary focus will be on finalising Councils Economic Development Strategy and developing our Regional Events and Visitor Economy Strategies, whilst continuing to deliver many programs and projects aimed at driving jobs and growth.

For now however, I would like to extend warm Christmas wishes from our team to yours.  May you stay safe over the festive season, look out for one another and enter the New Year with energy, optimism and thankfulness for what 2020 has in store.

With warm wishes

Sharon Raguse
Economic Development and Tourism Manager
