Who is involved in the Senior Concerts?

The Senior concerts will involve all students in Year 5/6 classes and up including the JF Dance Company.

When are the Senior Concerts?

The Senior concerts are on Sunday 17th November. Due to student numbers and the size of the theatre, we have split the Senior Shows into three different concerts at 10am, 2pm and 6pm. We've spent many hours ensuring that very few students are involved in all three concerts, while having an even number of students and acts. Please see below which classes are in which concert. Each concert will run for approximately 1.5 hours. Students will not be supervised between shows.

This is a tentative running order.

When are the stage rehearsals?

Rehearsals for the Senior concert will be on Saturday November 16th between 10am and 6pm. Stage rehearsals are COMPULSORY in order to be a part of the concerts to ensure the safety of all students on concert day and allow your child to feel confident on the stage. It is also our only time to put together the Finale with the whole senior school.

This is not a dress rehearsal, students should wear full JF uniform with appropriate dance footwear on stage.

If you have a serious conflict with your stage rehearsal times you must inform Director Kim ASAP via email. Kim will need to give permission for students to be absent in extenuating circumstances and only if an alternate stage rehearsal time can be arranged. Otherwise, students will be unable to perform in the Sunday shows.

Please see rehearsal schedule below. Students must attend both their class rehearsal and one FINALE rehearsal at 12:40pm or 3:00pm. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled rehearsal time. If you miss you stage time, students will be unable to perform in the concert. Students will be dismissed once their class is finished rehearsing.

Extra class rehearsals for Combined Routines

Tuesday 5th November and Tuesday 12th November - Senior 2 Jazz will need to attend the Senior 1 class from 5:00-5:30pm to put together opening number.

Saturday 26th October and Saturday 2nd November - Senior Ballet will also need to attend the Advanced ballet class at 9:00-10:00 to put the combined ballet routine together, as well as their normal class time.

Saturday 9th November - Advanced ballet to attend the Senior ballet class at 11:00-12:00 instead of their usual class time.

Where are the concerts and rehearsal?

The Concerts will once again be held at the ACC Theatre, Monte Sant Angelo, 128 Miller Street North Sydney. There is a carpark on site as well as street parking and council carparks in the area. The theatre is directly to the right as you enter the school.

Students are to arrive 1 hour before their concert time.

What do students wear in the concert?

All students will receive a costume for the concert for each class at the end of October which has been fitted in class. Students will wear their costume to the concert. We will send out a Final Running Order of the shows in early November for students who take multiple classes to know which costumes to wear/bring with them.

All jazz/musical theatre/tap girls are to wear their costumes with Tan Jazz Stockings (available from our shop for $10) with polished black jazz shoes or black tap shoes.

Hip Hop Students will require white socks and white sneakers.

Intermediate and Advanced Commercial Jazz students will also require White Hip Hop Sneakers for their concert dance this year.

Ballet students will require pink ballet stockings and ballet shoes. Hair in a bun with bun net and pins.

Technique and Acro students will dance bare feet (no stockings). Pre Senior technique students may like to wear foot paws/thongs to help with the turn requirements in their dance.

Hair is to be worn in a neat high pony tail on the top of the head, sprayed/gelled into place with no fly away hairs, with a neutral coloured hair elastic.

Makeup is foundation one shade darker than skin colour, blended into the neck, neutral coloured eyeshadow, mascara and black eyeliner, pink blush and red lipstick.

Girls should wear nude coloured underwear that cannot be seen under their costumes. We recommend a body stocking (nude leotard) from Bloch or Capezio to wear instead of underwear/bra and for modesty when changing.

Boys can wear their hair in any funky style. Makeup is optional but may include a bit of bronzer as not to fade under the lights.

Please no jewellery, nail polish, fake tattoos etc.

** please note that some costumes will come with hair accessories. These are NOT to be worn for the concert but are for students to keep with their costume.

What do students wear for the concert Finale?

Every year, we have a finale at the end of our concerts. This year our theme is THE LION KING. Students are to create their own finale costume made up of Black, White and Animal Print clothing/fabric/accessories. Please ensure this costume is packed for the concert as otherwise students will not have anything to wear for the finale.

When are tickets on sale?

Tickets for the concert go on sale on Monday October 14th at 9am. There is a limit of 3 tickets per student, per show in order to ensure all families get a seat. We will make all remaining tickets available before the concerts.
