Is the Salkantay more difficult
than the Inca Trail?
Well the Salkantay eventually
joins up with the Inca Trail so
overall it is much longer trek.
In addition to distance, Salkantay Pass, at approximately 4,650 meters above sea level is the most difficult section.
It is a steep uphill climb,
often hit by strong cold winds
and very low temperatures which
coupled with the altitude makes
it hard.
