Yesterday a 2-year-old boy fell from his 11th floor apartment in the 7600 block of Maple Ave in Takoma Park Maryland. The child was transported to Children’s Hospital in Washington DC and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.
The Takoma Park Police Department has investigated the incident and has ruled the fall to be an accident. The child had awoken from his afternoon nap and was able to get on top of a night stand near an open window. The child had pushed on the screen and fell the 11 floors into a pile of mulch and some bushes, missing the hard concrete.
According to the family, doctors are surprised that the injuries to the child are not as severe as they good be expected from a fall of this nature. The child remains in the Intensive Care Unit listed as critical.
