This is the eigth newsletter of the iSTEPup foundation. In this newsletter, we will introduce three new students who are accepted to the iSTEPup programme in the past months!

As many of our donors are international, the newsletters are written in English.

iSTEPup in a nutshell
iSTEPup provides local scholarships for ambitious students to become a nurse, midwife, doctor or pharmacist in low- and middle income countries. In a transparent manner we aim to improve sustainability of basic healthcare by creating educational chances for motivated but underprivileged people.

To continue our mission, we need your support!

The students in the iSTEPup programme are able to (continue their) study through donations from companies and individuals. The majority of gifts we receive are one-time donations. With a recurring donation you give iSTEPup more certainty of income for a longer period, which means that more students can receive a scholarship. Since iSTEPup is classified as an ANBI, your entire donation is tax deductible from the income or corporation tax if you periodically donate (only applicable for Dutch donors).

Read more information about the terms & conditions on
our website.

If you want to donate to a specific student, please indicate this in the donation form on our homepage, by choosing a student (tab: 'Project').

Special thanks to...

The iSTEPup board would like to give special thanks to:
Nissan Manenschijn (Daarle, The Netherlands)
Technology Unlimited (Almelo, The Netherlands)
Bernhards financieel advies (Den Ham, The Netherlands)

For the second year in a row, these companies have promised to support our students with a substantial donation.

The
church in Nijbroek (the Netherlands) supports iSTEPup with a bi-monthly collection during the church service. They have already raised over a 1000 euros!

We also thank
Bureau Strak (Hardenberg, The Netherlands) for their contribution in designing and managing our website!

In Memoriam

Wouter Nolet (1987 - 2019) passed away in Leiden, Netherlands, on the 23rd of November. Wouter contracted Lassa fever during his work at the Masanga hospital in Sierra Leone.

Wouter's efforts of training local healthcare workers in Sierra Leone will not be forgotten. His selflessness, dedication and enthusiasm will be remembered. Wouter was dear to Jan Henk Dubbink (Chairman iSTEPup); they both studied Global Health and Tropical Medicine and shared many values and good times. We would like to express our deepest condolences to his family and all his loved ones.

On the website of Capacare you can read about his work, share some words about Wouter,  or express your condolences.
