Local Government Benchmarking Framework (LGBF) - 30th October 2019, 2.00pm - 3.00pm

The LGBF is a high-level benchmarking tool designed to support senior management teams and elected members to ask questions about key council services. This webinar will:

  • provide an overview of the framework
  • show you how to explore your councils performance data across a number of themes
  • highlight how best to use the performance data to scrutinise performance and drive improvement.

Councillor surgeries are now online!

Information about councillor surgeries is now available on TellMeScotland - Scotland's national public information notices portal.

The first local authority to deploy this is Argyll and Bute Council. The councillor surgery notices detail the ward name, number and local authority; the date, time and location; and which councillor will be in attendance. Read more here.

Scotland's Census 2021 is going online!

Census 2021 will be the first to be conducted in Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland primarily online.

In Scotland, this significant and innovative change to the Census is being led by National Records of Scotland (NRS). To achieve this, NRS will be reliant on high quality address data, provided by each of Scotland’s 32 local authorities. Read more here.

The ambition for superfast broadband for all in Scotland

The Scottish Government has set an ambitious target through the ‘Reaching 100%’ (R100) commitment: that every home and business in Scotland will have access to superfast (greater than 30 Mbps) broadband. Read about the Spatial Information Service's role in this. 

The future of digital services for young people

Thanks to a brand new membership platform, young people aged 12-26 in Scotland can now discover and access Young Scot discounts, rewards and additional bespoke opportunities all in one place for the first time. All a Young Scot needs is their Young Scot National Entitlement card to get started. Read about the Improvement Service's involvement or visit the website.

West Lothian Council first to launch parentsportal.scot

parentsportal.scot is a new secure online service to transform communications between schools and parents. With direct digital communications replacing the schoolbag run, it provides secure access for parents to a wide range of online services and information about their child’s education. parentsportal.scot has been jointly developed by the Improvement Service (IS) and SEEMiS, the education information management provider. Read more here or visit the website.
