Dear Friend,

We hope you are enjoying the Mid Autumn Festival and are going to celebrate with friends and family. In this edition of Helping Hands we are celebrating 30 years of empowering domestic workers through advice and assistance, education and advocacy and helping them gain access to justice and receive fair and equal treatment. We share with you some success stories, we open the floor to our summer Interns and we invite you to our 30th anniversary event. Please do share this edition of Helping Hands with friends and family and we look forward seeing you and them on November 14th, 2019.

Best Wishes,
The Team at HELP

A word from our Interns

Each summer we take on 6-8 interns studying law, who wish to make a difference to the lives of domestic workers, whilst gaining invaluable experience. We spoke to Nicole, Giya and Myr about their time at HELP. To read more about what they learnt and loved click here

Success story of the month

Femy Baran is a foreign domestic worker who was referred to HELP by her Priest in March. Her employer had terminated Femy because she was having difficulty breathing and experiencing severe foot swelling. The employer was forcing Femy to work long hours doing both her domestic worker duties and moving extremely heavy pieces of metal around for the employer’s nearby factory. 30 years looks like this

With 30 years of helping, empowering and offering legal protection to domestic workers in Hong Kong, we wanted to share with you our Top 5 highlights over the past 3 decades. To read more about our journey Click Here

HELP extends its service

Since we launched our Whats App service 2 years ago we have had just over 100 clients contact us in this way with a further 143 enquiries coming through Facebook. Although most clients come to our office, we realise that insufficient days off, long travel times and a lack of funds limits them, so Whats App and Facebook are a fantastic alternative.  If you know someone that needs our help please share this newsletter with them
