“Cycling and Walking” in first of three public seminars for 2019

Seminar One in this year’s series looks at the theme of cycling and walking as we hear residents complaining that the infrastructure for cycling just isn’t good enough and cyclists feel unsafe on the roads. Pedestrians want to see that walking has a higher priority than cars and that this is reflected in the design of our streets. How do we win the argument?

Thursday 3rd October – Book your tickets now
We bring our guest speaker from Copenhagen, the best city in the world for cycling and walking – Klaus Bondham, CEO of the Danish Cyclists’ Federation and former Mayor of Technical and Environmental Affairs in The City of Copenhagen.

Klaus will be followed by Cllr Nathalie Nicholas, Deputy Portfolio Holder Transport & Air Quality, in the Liverpool City Region, and a local panel including Daniel Robinson (Peloton Liverpool), Blaen Roberts (Liver Pedlaa Pool), and Kevin McCann (Sustrans).

Also, join us later in October for the next two seminars

17th October – Homelessness and Rough-Sleeping: A different approach

31st October – Devolution and Governance in the Bexit Era

Piazza Fountain wins Grade II listing

Richard Huws’ unique kinetic sculpture becomes listed entity #1463126, securing the future of not only the fountain but also the two viewing platforms designed by him and forming a complete unit with the water sculpture.

Beetham Plaza’s management company, however, is now warning of increased costs for leaseholders, including “roughly £80,000 per annum” for “24 hour, constant security” of the newly appointed site.

The bucket fountain challenge looks to be far from over. Read the full story on our website.
