MTS Capitols Summer Update

Associate Director
Rev. Thomas Eddy

Today (as we write this) is Labor Day and Summer is coming to an end. With the new season comes new challenges. First is catching up with all of you! The Eddy’s have had a very full season. We began with taking the end of May to enjoy our 35th Wedding Anniversary. We are grateful to the LORD for the incredible gift of celebrating our many years together on our very first cruise. As Military retirees, we have had the privilege of visiting many parts of the world, but this was an entirely different blessing in seeing differing cultures and natural beauty. Our family also welcomed our 8th grandchild, Ellis Everett Eddy, just a couple weeks after our last newsletter. Time with him and our other grand littles has been in good supply over the warmer months and we couldn’t be happier with watching them grow.

The providence of God is wonderful!  During the PCA’s General Assembly, at a Ministry to North America (MNA) dinner, a minister at Thomas’s table (sitting one seat away) shared his interest in MTS and his desire to explore the possibility of joining the team.  We took him out to dinner the next night and had a wonderful discussion about ministry to our public servants.  We met with him, and his wife, a few weeks later in Tallahassee.  He is currently going through the last interview stages and, Lord willing, will become our MTS minister in Florida.  We will keep you posted.  Please add this to your prayer list for us!

Our ministers in state capitols are doing well.  Steve Bostrom just finished this season of direct ministry to his legislative body in Montana while they were in session.  He reports many wonderful moments the Lord used MTS to bless the legislators and their staffs and to share the Good News with many during the time they were in session.  Matt Wiley (our volunteer in OK) provided a very similar report.  Ron Zeigler (PA), Darin Stone (NC), and Del Farris (CO) are fully engaged with support raising.  We are praying (and we ask you to join us) that the Lord will lead them to the right people and that full support will be raise for each soon so that they can begin their direct ministries.  If you live in any of their states and are able to support them, please contact them and become part of the MTS partnership team in their states.  Their contact information is: Montana - stevebostrom@gmail.com, Pennsylvania - ronzeigler@juno.com, North Carolina - darinmstone@gmail.com, Colorado - delfarris@gmail.com.

As Presbyteries begin meeting in the fall, we have been reaching out during these months to stated clerks, hoping to make more opportunities to present the work of MTS to their elders in various regions. Please pray that time would be available on their dockets for our brief presentation. Also, don’t hesitate to let us know if your friends, your presbytery, church, or mission committee would like to learn more about Ministry to State. We would love to schedule a visit to chat over lunch, share before your Presbytery or Church, or even present MTS to your Sunday School Class.
