Rehabilitation: Blair Road Boat Launch Access Road

The National Capital Commission (NCC) would like to inform you about upcoming work to be undertaken at the Blair Road boat launch access road. This work is part of the NCC’s major infrastructure projects funded by the Government of Canada’s $55-million investment announced in the 2018 federal budget.

This project aims to improve user experience, and enhance safety for pedestrians and pathway users at the Blair Road boat launch access road. The plan is to upgrade the boat launch from a gravel ramp to a permanent concrete ramp, which will better accommodate two vehicles using the launch at the same time. In addition, sightlines and visibility for vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be improved, through the installation of better permanent signage and some landscaping work.

The work is scheduled to start on September 15, 2019, and the boat launch will be closed as of that date. We estimate that work should be completed by January 15, 2020. Signage will be in place when the work begins, to help facilitate traffic flow. No pathway closures are expected while the work is ongoing. However, we do ask that cyclists and pedestrians exercise caution, respect work crews and equipment, and obey signage and flag personnel on-site.

If you have any questions about this project, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@ncc-ccn.ca.
