Changes in Workshops
New Workshop Schedule
Three of the four workshops in the Department of Communication (UNW Examiner, Eagle 7 News, and The Remnant), will be meeting at the same time on Monday evenings. This will help create a more cohesive message in workshops as they work together to create a narrative.
Faculty Spotlight

Dr. Eric Netterlund
Why did you want to become a professor?
Before college, the thought of becoming a professor had never crossed my mind, but as a student at Northwestern, I found myself in classes that stretched me intellectually and personally. I loved it! That was the first step I took towards wanting to be a professor. Today part of what drives me is that I want to share that same joy I find in ideas and critical thinking with others.

What brought you to Northwestern?
One of the things that I have appreciated most in reflection after graduating from Northwestern has been the support and guidance I received from the faculty here. While I love talking ideas in the classroom, the bigger reason I’m here is that I want to be able to give students support the way that I was supported.

What is your favorite part of being at Northwestern?
I love the care that community members here have for one another and how engaged people are in the life of the Northwestern community.

What are your plans for the future?

I plan to work in non-profit or ministry after UNW. I hope to use my background of PR and Communication to assist in small non-profits or ministry.

What opportunities have you had at UNW?

I have had many opportunities at UNW that have helped me gain networking contacts as well as experience and opportunities with local businesses. I've also become more professional in my writing.

What is your favorite thing about UNW?

My favorite thing about UNW is our professors who are both professional and faith-focused. I love that at UNW we incorporate our faith in the learning process. I've made really good friends and had really good roommates.
