THIS WEEK'S BEST NEW LOCATIONS

The mix of modern fishing boats paired with the traditional wooden fishing huts and rocky coastline makes this view down the heart of the Peggy's Cove Harbour irresistible to tourists and photographers alike.

The views looking out over the Valley of Strynfjell are simply breathtaking! Definitely worth all the twisting and winding up the narrow roads to reach this incredible shooting location.

The Peterskirche (English: St. Peter's Church) is a historic Baroque Roman Catholic parish church dating back to the Early Middle Ages. It's believed to be the oldest church in Vienna.

Cape D'Or is known for it's incredible sweeping views over the Bay of Fundy. There has been a lighthouse on this cliff-edged point of land where the Bay of Fundy runs into the Minas Basin since 1922.

The Kingston Penitentiary is a former maximum-security prison that closed its doors in 2013. Originally built in 1835, the prison is one of Canada's oldest and is now open to the public for tours. Tours take about an hour and visitors must be escorted, but it is quite informative and well worth a visit.

Meanwhile at
PIXEO HQ

Well, when this goes out our two youngest little shutterbugs will be back in the classroom. For PIXEO that means Mama (a.k.a. Lisette) will have more time to really focus on the PIXEO collection. We know it's a bit sparse on the website map at the moment with only a thousand locations, but given her track record, that numbers gonna grow quick. With almost 20,000 locations in the app, needless to say, my lovely wife has amazing work ethic.

As for myself, well, I did a fair bit of tooling this weekend to solve some mobile rendering problems on the contest page of the website. I think I've got it sorted out. If anyone is still having issues, please let me know.

Squashing bugs didn't stop me from getting out to shoot though. I got a bunch of great shots at the Kingston penitentiary for this last weekend of the kid's summer. Lisette and I believe nothing motivates kids for their first day back to school like a stroll through a supermax prison.  "Hey kids, here's what happens if you don't stay in school!"

Anyway, that's it from HQ (i.e. our kitchen). Hope you all had a great summer and we can't wait to see what the fall brings!

Yours aye,

Shawn M. Kent
