Postcards from the Grounds
It's been over a month since I sent a Groundhopper newsletter, and it could be you haven't even noticed. I hope that's the case, and I hope it's because you've been out having fun and enjoying summer.
I've been working like a dog -- managing this business, shipping and shepherding books, going to my day job, and helping people go groundhopping.
The season is off to a big start, and not just for Crystal Palace and West Ham United, who are currently two of the top three London clubs in the Premier League. (Sit down, Spurs and Chelsea, and hang in there, 20th-place Watford!)
No, I mean the 100+ people who have already taken advantage of my services to go see games in England. They've gone to Arsenal, Brentford, Chelsea, Palace, Fulham, Liverpool, Man City, Man United, Tottenham, Sheffield Wednesday and West Ham United. In the next month they will be off to most of those again as well as Southampton and Watford.
I always ask people to share some pictures and videos with me, and enough folks have done it that I put together a little gallery of images from August groundhops.
Meanwhile, Back at World HQ ...
Ironically, while all those happy people were kicking around in the English sun (whatever that looks like) going to games, I was back in Portland. living and dying with the Timbers and keeping this whole show running. I'll make my first groundhopping trip of the season later this month.
As I wrote in the last Groundhopper, the 2019-20 Groundhopper's Guide arrived last month. That's always a lot of fun -- and then a lot of work. I've already mailed out more than 130 of them, including to Bermuda, Sweden, Australia and Malaysia! So I reckon I'm No. 1 in every one of those markets, thank you very much.
Here's what that looks like, along with a glimpse "behind the scenes" here at Groundhopper Guides, and perhaps a gift.
